Life is a Special Occasion!

Happy Fathers Day!
It’s a day to honor Dad. A Father is more than the biological paternal source of our being. He is the person who cares and provides for us. He is the man who helps to set the standards, the family values and the example. We can add to this group, step fathers and other men who willingly and eagerly accept and cherish the role. Whether biological, adopted or informally, if they are the father figure to you, give him some recognition today and don't hesitate to call him Dad.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Any man can be a father,
but it takes a special person to be a dad.
Proverb
I’m sending best of wishes for a Happy Father’s Day to all dads today but especially to my 6 wonderful sons and my SIL too. They are all wonderful fathers.
I love them all so much!
I didn’t get any cards out in the mail so this post will have to do. May the dear Lord bless you all today and always !
It’s another warm day in our neck of the woods so other than going to church later on I’ll be in and keeping cool today!
I hope you all RELAXING Sunday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Turkey Lovers Day!
This is a day to enjoy turkey in one of its many forms. Enjoy your favorite form of turkey today. Invite some friends over, fire up the grill and make some turkey burgers and turkey dogs.
No Fail, Seriously Delicious & Juicy Turkey Burgers!
1 pound ground turkey
2 tablespoons seasoned bread crumbs
2 tbsp finely diced onion
1 egg
1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
1 tsp Seasoning Salt
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tsp Worchestershire sauce
flour to dust
Optional: 2 tbsp red or green pepper, minced very finely, diced bacon, cheese
Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl; form into 4 patties. Dust each patty with flour, shaking off the excess. This helps you form a crust on the burger and they won't fall apart as easily. Cook on a skillet or a BBQ stone, not on the grill, turning once, until the burgers reach an internal temperature of 180 degrees F. Let rest briefly, then serve.
A few burger tips!
Do not cook these on the BBQ unless it's on a flat surface. Cooking it in it's own juices instead of letting the juices drip away helps keep it juicy. Do not press on the burgers, you will lose juices. In order to prevent a dome top, make sure the middle of the burger is indented and start with a very flat burger.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him father!
Lydia M. Child
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3964. for all fathers, especially my sons and SIL
3965. for turkey, good and good for you
3966. for the rain we had earlier in the week, thankfully I don’t need to water the grass
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Being a great father is like shaving. No matter how good
you shaved today, you have to do it again tomorrow.
Reed Markham
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

Happy father's day to all the fathers in your family! I hope they all have a great day. Good idea to spend time inside today with the heat.

I love that bit of advice that likens being a father to shaving! That is so true!! Hope you are having a great Sunday
I love smoked turkey, but never tried it in a burger! You're right. It's so good for us, but I worry it won't be as flavorable as ground chuck.
If we try it, I'm happy to know not to do so on the BBQ!
Loved all of your thoughts on Fathers Pam and kudos to you for having raised some lovely father's. I love turkey burgers, but have never had ground smoked turkey? I will have to look for it! Have a wonderful Monday! xoxo
We had a very quiet Father's Day here, too... it was beastly hot. I awoke to news there might be a little rain this week, and boy, do we need it!
Have a good Monday!
