Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is National Roof Over Your Head Day. It is a day of appreciation for the things we have, starting with the roof over our heads.
For most of us, a roof over our head signifies living in a house that protects us from the elements, keeping us warm, dry, and cozy. Unfortunately, not everyone is as lucky as you and I. There are many homeless people right here in our country. Some people live in a cardboard box on the street...... literally. There are millions of people around the world who live in poverty or disaster areas, and do not have a home to keep them comfortable and safe.
Spend a few minutes being thankful that you are not homeless, and appreciating your roof and home today. Also make a contribution to a homeless shelter, so others can come in out of the rain.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
As long as you have a ROOF over your head, CLOTHES on your back and FOOD on your table and those around you who LOVE, you have all you'll ever NEED...!!!
For most of us, having a roof over our heads means we live in a house that protects us from the weather, keeps us warm, dry and cozy.
Buying a house is often the single largest investment a person will make in his or her lifetime. Did you know that the homeownership rate in the United States is around 66% of the population? Studies have shown that homeowners are more active in their communities, have improved education opportunities, and report higher levels of self esteem and happiness.
I’m thankful for my home. It’s pretty old now and so is the roof. At least 2 or 3 times every year the wind blows some shingles off and we have them replaced. The good news is that it is still doing a good job of providing a roof over my head. The pictures with the snow on the ground are from last winter. Right now we’re snow free!
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
If you have food in your fridge, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of the world. If you have money in the bank, your wallet, and some spare change you are among the top 8% of the wordl’s wealthy. If you woke up this morning with more health than illness you are more blessed than the million people who will not survive this week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the agony of imprisonment or torture, or the horrible pangs of starvation vou are luckier than 500 million people alive and suffering. If you can read this message you are more fortunate than 3 billion people in the world who cannot read it at all.

22 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
In holiday prep, the season moves toward full swing with the coming of Advent. It’s time to plan holiday traditions, complete gift shopping, mail send away gifts and work on holiday decorating.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
May you always have walls for the winds,
a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all your heart might desire.
Irish Blessing
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for 2 years and have now reached over 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
2276. for a place of my own and the roof over my head giving shelter from the storms

It is sad to see all the homeless here in various parts of the city. It is good to be appreciative of our houses indeed! I am grateful almost daily for the roof over my head. I send a small gift monthly to the rescue mission here who helps the homeless. I'm glad there are services that help those that need a warm meal and also help people to get off the streets.
Glad there's a period of snow free for you, Ma! You can get some shopping or errands done in anticipation of Christmas!

In addition to being grateful that I've always had a roof over my head and food to eat, I've come to be extremely grateful that I had such a stable family life when I was growing up. We didn't have much in the way of money but I was never aware of that--always thought we were rich!
Beautiful sky.
