Life is a Special Occasion!

National Egg Nog Day comes but once a year, December 24th. It celebrates a special, traditional holiday drink. The timing couldn't be any better, the day before Christmas, Christmas Eve!
Egg Nog is a seasonal holiday drink. It appears just before Thanksgiving, and is enjoyed by many at the Thanksgiving meal. Consumption then takes a break until the December holidays are in full swing. Consumption of egg nog peaks on Christmas Eve. By the New Year, it is no longer available in stores. If you want eggnog after New Year's you will likely have to make it yourself.
Happy Christmas Eve!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
O holy night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of our dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
'Til He appear'd and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born;
O night divine, O night, O night Divine.
Here at my house there has been some Egg Nog in my refrigerator since Thanksgiving. I enjoy it immensely! Whenever I have a glass of it, I always sprinkle a little extra nutmeg on top too !
There are lots of things you can make with Egg Nog. Cakes and cookies, breakfast casseroles and french toast. My favorite way to use it other than drinking it, has been to pour some on my oatmeal this year.
It’s so very hard to believe that Christmas Eve is here. I’ll be going with some of my family to Christmas Eve services this evening. It’ll be a packed house as this is the service where all the little angels and shepherds appear. Who can resist these tiny little ones ! Hopefully I’ll get some pictures to share with you all.
The children will be filled with anticipation of Christmas morning too ! Years ago we’d travel to my Mom and Dads’ home after Christmas Eve services and join in a family celebration. Now my own family will be gathering but not here at my house, it’s way to small and not tonight, but Saturday when it’s more convenient for those that have to travel some distance.
Still and all it will be a wonderful Christmas Eve! Changes are a part of life and none of them are bad, just different than they used to be. The pictures today show some of us at Church on Christmas in past years.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas Eve!
1 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
I hope you all are all ready for the BIG day now. Try to spend some time in front of the tree this evening enjoying the blessedness of the day and maybe sipping some egg nog.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The Blessing in Christmas is Christ. For He is the reason for the Holiday Season
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
My idea of Christmas, whether old fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

The Christmas Eve services sound lovely!! Wish there was one here close by!!
Merry Christmas, Ma!
I, too, love Egg-Nog. So far I've resisted -- but I'm really looking forward to my inaugural drink tonight! Soooo good!
PS - Not sure if your 'ears were burning' in the early morning hours -- but following a big old water leak (inside the wall behind our shower), I was sure trying to practice some of your positivity out-loud and 'polish the dull side'! Things are far from back-to-normal, but I'm encouraged by your philosophy!
I have yet to get egg nog this season, Ma, better get to it and soon, LOL. Son liked egg nog so I always bought it for him, with him moved out, I keep forgetting to get it for us :) I too like nutmeg on it :)
We did enjoy Christmas Eve services at a church here; always good to sing Christmas carols and remember the true reason for the season :)
