Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Letter Writing Day. Take a few minutes, and send someone a hand written letter.
Letter writing is an almost lost skill. Most letters and notes nowadays, are on emails and instant messages that are typed on a keyboard.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A friendship can weather most things and thrive in thin soil; but it needs a little mulch of letters and phone calls and small, silly presents every so often - just to save it from drying out completely.
Pam Brown
I’ve been working on my Christmas cards here at my house. I used to enclose a Christmas letter in with my card, but now I just try to add a little note written on the card itself. This time of year is a great opportunity to write to friends and family members that we rarely see. A handwritten word or two does mean a lot.
It’s also the time of year that children write letters to Santa. It’s a great way to encourage letter writing for little ones. Letter writing does seem to be a lost art. I fondly remember exchanging letters with my grandmother years and years ago. I still have a few that she sent to me.
Most of my letters are like this email, done online. More and more the internet is the preferred way to connect. No matter how you do it, it’s always good to keep in touch with those important people in our lives.
It’s the 2nd Sunday of Advent and I’ll be off to church as usual this morning. We’ll light the 2nd candle on the Advent wreath which stands for PEACE. When letting Jesus into our lives it creates a sense of peace. He brings about life and peace.
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday, another busy week lies ahead. Peace be to you !
19 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
A homemade Christmas gift, a Kissmas Whisk, is easy enough for children to make and give and with ingredients from the dollar store, it's inexpensive to make. Makes a great teacher gift, stocking stuffer or office Secret Santa present.
Materials
Small kitchen whisk
Chocolate kiss candies
Plastic food storage wrap
gift tag
To make your Kissmas Whisk, place a handful of foil wrapped chocolate kiss candies between the tines of a new kitchen whisk.
To secure the candies, wrap whisk bottom with plastic food storage wrap and tape the wrap to the whisk handle.
Add a pretty bow or ribbon, with a gift tag that says, We Whisk you a Merry Kissmas, for a simple stocking stuffer or 12 Days of Christmas gift!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
To send a letter is a good way to go somewhere without moving anything but your heart.
Phyllis Theroux
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for 2 years and have now reached over 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
If you are in doubt whether to write a letter or not, don't. And the advice applies to many doubts in life besides that of letter writing.
Edward Bulwer Lytton
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

That Kissmas whisk is a cute idea, Ma! I might have to pass it on to my niece to see if she wants her kids to do something like that for their teachers. You are so right, writing handwritten letters is becoming a lost art. I know even when I send a letter through the mail and not email, I still type it because my handwriting can be so bad. I hope you have a restful day!
