THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There is no such thing in anyone's life
as an unimportant day.
Alexander Woollcott
This is the first of the November birthdays in our family. As usual this one will be a long distance celebration and the card is in the mail. There will be a couple of birthdays, that I’ll get to celebrate in person this month and I’m thankful for those.
In my daily trivia for today I found out that it is Chicken Soup for the Soul Day. It's a celebration about you. According to the creators of the book series of the same name, Chicken Soup for the Soul Day was created as a celebration of who you are, where you've been, where you're going, and who you will be thankful to when you get there!
I thought that this was a great way to celebrate a birthday, because birthdays are all about you! Your special day to enjoy ! Celebrate you are, where you’ve been and where you’re going!
The Chicken Soup for the Soul series is filled with heartwarming stories designed to make us count our blessing, think positive, overcome challenges, find our purpose, make every day a happy day, turn adversity into opportunity, and incorporate gratitude and joy into our life, I’d recommend them to any one.
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday ! Celebrate YOU!
42 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Christmas is a time for Families, Fun, and Festivities! A time of family gatherings and holiday meals. A time for Santa, stars, and singing carolers. A time for ornaments, gifts, and twinkling lights. Of sleigh rides, hot cocoa, and gingerbread cookies. Today I’m sharing a recipe for The best Christmas ever.
Begin with a foundational crust of remembering the real reason for the season. God loved us so much that He sent His Son to earth to become flesh, so that He could live and die for us! Christmas is still all about Jesus, always has been, always will be.
Once the foundational crust is established, pour in a layer of doing for others. Find someone less fortunate, take them a meal, get them gifts, make sure they have warm clothing. Toys break and game systems become obsolete, but memories of doing for others last a lifetime.
For a second layer, determine not to go into debt for gifts. Proverbs 22:7 says, The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. Buy within your means, and teach your children to always do the same. Fiscal responsibility is one of the greatest gifts you will ever give to your children, and doing things this way will not make January the month that you regret December!
Once the foundation and the first two layers are set, chop up a bunch of incredibly bitter herbs called anger, unforgiveness, hatred, and revenge. Take those chopped up herbs... and throw them away. Don’t let even a trace into the pan. This will make your Christmas recipe very heart healthy.
From there, spread a heavy layer of fun and adventure over the entire pie. The Wise Men of Matthew 2 took a long trip, rejoiced over a never before seen star, gave gifts, and even took time to make fun of Herod on their way out of town! Follow that example. Laugh, sing songs, go see the lights, watch cheesy Christmas specials, and find some new adventure. God gave you exactly one life to live; live it cleanly, but enjoy it!
Lastly, sprinkle some humor over the entire thing, sort of a whip cream on top. Proverbs 17:22 says, A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
Each day is an adventure in discovering the meaning of life. It is each little thing that you do that day - whether it be spending time with your friends, running in a cross-country meet or just simply staring at the crashing ocean- that holds the key to discovering the meaning of life. I would rather be out enjoying these things than pondering them. We may never really discover the meaning of life, but the knowledge we gain in our quest to discover it is truly more valuable.
Jack Canfield, Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul II
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for 2 years and have now reached over 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind...let it be something good.
