Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Forget Me Not Day is a today. A day to remember family, friends, and loved ones. People use this day to get in touch with family, friends and loved ones, especially those who we haven’t seen in a while. This day is intended to remember the living. But, some people have used it to memorialize a loved one who is no longer with us.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
We are so often caught up in our destination that we forget to appreciate the journey, especially the goodness of the people we meet on the way. Appreciation is a wonderful feeling, don't overlook it.

I try never to forget my family, friends and loved ones. Usually I keep in touch with each of you every day through this email, but there are a few that don’t get it, so maybe it’d be a good day to make a phone call or visit with them. There are very few that don’t have email these days so it makes it really easy for me to stay in touch. I am forgetful about a lot of things, but hopefully will never forget those near and dear to me.
The other day I saw a sign along the road advertising Hot Buttered Cheesesteak Sandwiches and that made me very hungry for one, so as I was on the way to the grocery store I bought the necessary ingredients to make them. A cheese steak sandwich is not really a steak at all, it is a sandwich made with chipped steak, steak that has been frozen and sliced really thin and cooked on a grill top. I use Steakums.
Here’s a recipe in case you want to make your own too.
2 tablespoons vegetable oil or butter
2 medium onions, sliced as thin as possible and rings separated
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
12 ounces chipped steak
Salt and coarsely-ground black pepper
Provolone cheese slices
1 Italian loaf, hoagie roll, or French baguette
Dill pickle spears
In a large frying pan over high heat, add olive oil, I used butter instead, and heat so that a drop of water will sizzle when you drop it in the oil; lower heat to medium. Add onions and mushrooms, stir and cook until mushrooms darken and onions start to look transparent. Add steak slices and cook for approximately 3 minutes or until meat is lightly browned. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Heap cooked meat mixture in a long length wise pile across the frying pan, Lay cheese slices over meat until melted.
If using a loaf of Italian bread, slice bread lengthwise. Using a spatula, scoop 1/2 the meat mixture and cheese and lay on bread with cheese on top.
Slice sandwich into 4 pieces, and serve with a dill pickle.
They say we may get some snow this week. It’ll probably come Wednesday according to the forecast. But as we all know that can change at any given moment.
Hope you all have a great start to this new week. Happy Monday!
Remember Christmas is the season of Goodwill to All! There are so many ways to give during the holidays. Find one that is meaningful to you and to your family. Make it a tradition. Or make a tradition of giving to a different organization or need every year.
PRAYER REQUEST
Please join me today in praying for one my nieces, who had a heart attack yesterday, surgery was done and a stint was put in. They will be doing more testing to see if any further surgery needed. May the dear Lord bless her with healing and bless the hands of doctors caring for her too.
In Jesus Name we pray, Thy will be done Lord. Amen
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Memories are forget me nots gathered along life's way, pressed close to the heart in a perennial bouquet!
Karen Mortensen
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for 2 years and have now reached over 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
I would like to use this little flower as a metaphor. The five petals of the little forget me not flower prompt me to consider five things we would be wise never to forget....first, forget not to be patient with yourself...second, forget not the difference between a good sacrifice and a foolish sacrifice...third, forget not to be happy now...fourth, forget not the why of the gospel...fifth, forget not that the Lord loves you.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Thanks for including that recipe, Ma! I am definitely going to plan to make these! Will say a prayer for your niece; thankful they were able to put the stent in; hoping for a quick recovery for her!
