Life is a Special Occasion!
VETERANS DAY IN THE USA
Veterans's Day honors all members of the Armed Forces who who served this country valiantly, and in a very big way. They served and fought to protect us, to keep our country safe, and to preserve our way of life. Veterans gave their time, and risked their lives for you and me. In some cases, they made the ultimate sacrifice.
This holiday originally was called Armistice Day and was first celebrated in 1921. In 1954, President Eisenhower changed it to Veteran's Day, in honor of those who served and died from all wars.
On November 11 at 11:11, 1921 the U.S. France and England each buried an unknown soldier in honor of those who died in World War I. This began the annual Armistice Day holiday. The time and day was picked because fighting ceased in WWI in 1918 on November 11 at 11:11. In keeping with this tradition, work stops on this day and time each year for a moment of silence.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Proud To Be An American
If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away.
And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, there's pride in every American heart,
and it's time to stand and say:
I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.
I am very proud to be an American and have a deep appreciation for all our veterans - past and present So many give the extra mile every day to protect our freedom.
I can remember well the first time I heard the song Proud to be an American played. I was at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio, years ago, with some of my family and they played the song to the accompaniment of a light show and fireworks. It was very impressive and certainly made it a hit with me.
As usual here at my house the American flag is flying and I’m proud to display it. Remember to take a minute at 11:11 today and say a little prayer for our vets. They are the best and I salute them!
I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!
It's Autumn. Pumpkins glow in golden fields. Shorter days, crisp mornings signal winter's approach. Use these brisk and breezy days to conquer deep cleaning chores for a clean and comfortable winter home, and to wrap up summer's outdoor lifestyle. Here at my house the table and chairs on the patio are tucked away in the garage for the winter. The front porch is more protected so the furniture is still out there but I have a cover to put over it and usually do that after Thanksgiving.
The moon gives you light,
And the bugles and the drums give you music,
And my heart, O my soldiers, my veterans,
My heart gives you love.
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for 2 years and have now reached over 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
2210. for all our Veterans, they do so much
2211. for patriotic songs, I do love them
2212. for a couple of warmer days, the cold stuff returns tomorrow
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
You're blessed when you're content with just who you are—no more, no less. That's the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can't be bought

I too like that song of Lee Greenwood's. Always get goosebumps when I hear it. I'm glad we live in the country that we do with the freedoms we have!
betty
although I am Canadian I have always loved that Lee Greenwood song as well. With family in the USA, we travelled there a lot through the years, the North East and I always loved my visits there. I love the people and I love your sense of National pride. You are a great country. I am grateful for the way you stepped in during both world wars as without the help of American we would never have won. What price freedom. God bless you all. xxoo
