Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Chaos Never Dies Day, which is always on November 9th, recognizes the turmoil in modern, everyday life. Disorder is everywhere. Hectic schedules, changes to plans, unexpected tasks and chores, the list goes on and on and on.......
Today is a day to recognize the chaos in your life. You can best celebrate this day, by recognizing that chaos never dies. Rather, its a way of life. You can partake in this special day, by putting just a little order back into your life. You can start, by picking one thing that is really disrupting your life, and change it for the good.
On the bright side: If you think your life is chaotic today, just wait until the holiday season arrives.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If you delay till tomorrow what ought to be done today, you overcharge the morrow with a burden which belongs not to it. You load the wheels of time, and prevent it from carrying you along smoothly. He who every morning plans the transactions of the day, and follows out the plan, carries on a thread which will guide him through the labyrinth of the most busy life. The orderly arrangement of his time is like a ray of light which darts itself through all his affairs. But where no plan is laid, where the disposal of time is surrendered merely to the chance of incidents, all things lie huddled together in one chaos, which admits neither of distribution nor review.

Life does bring a lot of unexpected surprises our way. Some are good and some not so good. One minute we can be feeling on top the world, the next moment everything can come tumbling down. Having a large family I probably know what chaos is better than most, but I’m thankful for those busy days when I had a house filled with little ones, because it meant I had a family to love.
We’d all like to restore a little peace when life gets crazy. When I think of inner peace, I picture the eye of a hurricane. Even with the swirling chaos and turmoil, its center is calm and undisturbed.
The trick is to find some balance in between the highs and the lows. We need to find that spot in the eye of the hurricane where we can center in on keeping calm and undisturbed. I remember an old joke that pictured a mother inside a playpen with children running shelter skelter all around her. The young mom was almost crazy with her three young kids. She complained to her best friend, They're driving me nuts!! Such pests. They give me no rest and I'm half way to the funny farm.
What you need is a playpen to separate the kids from yourself, her friend said. So she bought a playpen A few days later, her friend called to ask how things were going. Superb! I can't believe it, the young mother said. I get in that pen with a good book, a chocolate bar, and the kids don't bother me for hours!
For me it’s easiest when I stop and take time out for prayer. It’s the easiest way I know to center on what’s important in life.
The pictures today were taken on a very windy day here last year and although the leaves were chaotically swirling on the ground, many tree tops were bare and calm.
Hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday!
I may be justifying my pockets of chaos, but I will always choose people over perfection and the heart over task and tidy.

45 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Now is the time to sit down with your menu planner and begin to create a Thanksgiving Shopping List, ingredient by ingredient, to figure out exactly what you have and what needs to be bought from the store.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Out of chaos God made a world, and out of high passions comes a people.
Lord Byron
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for 2 years and have now reached over 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.

Too cute about the mother and the playpen :)
I know we seemed to have our most chaotic mornings getting ready for church when the kids were younger :)

This reminds me of my son ... who's often fond of saying, "You gotta embrace the chaos."
I'm still working on that, but sure appreciate your perspective!
