Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is the first Sunday of Advent. Advent urges us to wait, to anticipate for the coming of the Lord in glory and the arrival of the Christ Child at Christmas. Advent is a time to prepare for Christmas. Gather your family together so you can prepare for the holidays as a family. And take time to be together as a family.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
As we begin Advent, we light one candle in the midst of all the darkness in our lives and in the world. It symbolizes our longing, our desire, our hope.
This week will be much quieter than the week before with all the Thanksgiving preparations and gatherings. I’ll have plenty of time to light my Advent candle and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.
In family life, we try to prepare ourselves for many future things: our next vacation, our children's education, our retirement. We are careful not to allow ourselves to be caught by surprise so that we can handle any challenges our family may face. So it seems very appropriate that we take time to prepare ourselves for Christmas.
The advent wreath has a very special place on the table here at my house every year. The circular wreath represents the fact that God has no beginning and no end. The evergreen branches stand for everlasting life. The four candles represent Christ as the light of the world
The first candle of the Advent wreath represents hope.
The decorating isn’t finished yet, and the baking hasn’t started. The presents aren’t wrapped . But there is plenty of time to sort it all out and get it all done.
Today is also Hugs and Kisses Day. Whether you give chocolate hugs and kisses, or cuddly hugs and kisses, make sure your friends and your loved ones get lots of hugs and kisses today
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday !
24 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Let your home spark every sense with holiday feeling as we move closer to Christmas. Fragrant greens, twinkling lights, holiday centerpieces all set the stage for a merry holiday season. There's no need to break the bank to decorate your house for the holidays. Look around you for inspiration, and bring Mother Nature inside for the holidays. Pile gold tipped pine cones into bowls or thread dried apple slices into wreaths
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Come, Lord Jesus! Come and visit your people.
We await your coming. Come, O Lord.
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for 2 years and have now reached over 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
2267. For advent, a time to prepare our hearts and minds
2268. for plenty of time to get things done
2269. for candles that dispel the darkness
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Advent tip: Pray together that through this Advent season your family will be more prepared to receive Jesus when he comes again.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

So true, Ma, to take the time to prepare for Christmas like we prepare for so many other things in our lives and to take the time to reflect on the true meaning of it and not the commercialism that the retailors would want us to do.
betty
I so enjoyed learning the meaning behind the components of your Advent wreath! Lovely!
MA, every year I looked forward (with my sister) to making our Advent wreath and lighting the candles at home. I got out
of the habit of doing it at home, but am going to start again. I love Advent services... and our parish has Monday adoration starting tomorrow. It's a blessed hour to just sit and BE Quiet with God!
