Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
November 3rd is Housewife Day, which recognizes the importance of stay at home wives and moms. Also referred to as ‘Retro' Housewife Day. These wonderful, caring people, build and enrich strong family environments. They help to instill family values and good character.
Housewife is an old term. It hails back to the days when one income could support the family in a manner of comfort. It was also a time when women did not have equal rights. While these days are long gone, women views of working or staying at home, fall on both sides of the fence. The decision to be a housewife, or stay at home mom, is still preferred by many. Unfortunately, income needs often necessitate going to work.
Today, we celebrate and thank all of the ladies who choose to stay home and tend to the house and family!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It takes hands to build a house, but only hearts can build a home.

Today I’m thankful for the years I got to stay at home and be a housewife. I didn’t have to return to work until my oldest was 12 and the youngest 4 years old. I’m also thankful for the wonderful family that I have, they all pitched in and helped a lot when I did return to the workforce.
Now, I’m retired and am at home once more, no more going off to work, but it is really different as there is no one here but me. I’m a homebody, not a housewife any more.
I’m thankful too for all the moms I know that have returned to work and undertake the big job of caring for the family and working outside the home. I know from experience what a very huge job that is. You gals are terrific too and deserve a pat on the back!
Todays pictures are a mixture of some more of fall here at my house.
Hope you all have a wonderful start to this new week. Happy Monday!
51 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.
Melody Beattie
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for 2 years and have now reached over 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
To be a housewife is ... a difficult, a wrenching, sometimes an ungrateful job if it is looked on only as a job. Regarded as a profession, it is the noblest as it is the most ancient of the catalog. Let none persuade us differently or the world is lost indeed.
Phyllis McGinley
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

I love being a housewife... funny, huh???
I do admire those moms that work outside the home and then work inside the home taking care of kids and family; I know its a tough job! I didn't start back to work until the kids were 9/13 and then worked at home, but that still was tough to adjust too. I think also those families who make adjustments so the mom can stay at home are to be admired too :)
