Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today, November 7th, is International Tongue Twister Day. A tongue twister is a phrase designed to be difficult to articulate, and can be used as a spoken or sung word game. Tongue twisters can be both confusing and humorous when mispronounced.
Celebrate International Tongue Twister Day by practicing a few tongue twisters and challenging your family and friends to a tongue twister duel!
Warm up by saying this tongue twister three or more times, as fast as you can:
Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,
A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked;
If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,
Where’s the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.
Oscar Wilde
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the most difficult tongue twister to say is:
The sixth sick sheikh's sixth sheep's sick.
I don’t know about you, but I had difficulty saying that correctly the first time. There are many times when I talk that my tongue gets twisted and things don’t come out the way I meant them too. Sometimes we don’t even stop to think about what exactly it is that we are saying. What might make sense to us, can be misinterpreted by others.
I guess that it why it is best to speak slowly and distinctly and think before we speak. People can easily misunderstand the meaning of our words. For instance the word LOL can mean 'laugh out loud,’ but to some it means
'lots of love’.
When I was a young girl, my grandmother used to say to me that if I didn’t have anything good to say, I shouldn’t say anything at all. She couldn’t stand gossip, so this made sense to me, but you can take this statement a little further and modify it to mean that, If you don’t have anything to say, then don’t say anything at all.
A good way to think before we speak is to ask ourselves if what we are going to say is going to hurt or if it is really that necessary or important
Remember that even though we are all human and say the wrong things at times, we can at least be quick to apologise when that occurs. Our words do matter.
I really don’t have many new pictures to show you so I took a look back in my photo album to see what I’d been doing in the past on this day and found pictures from our trip to Michigan last year so that is what you are seeing today. We visited Frankenmuth and Bronner’s Christmas World. Both had lots and lots for Christmas! It was the perfect time to go before the crowds of people that are there later on.
I hope you all have a fantastic Friday!
47 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
It's time to begin a Christmas card list. Whether you'll send Christmas cards, holiday letters, or transmit season's greetings by email, starting early saves last minute holiday stress and brings a breath of blessed calm during the height of the holiday season.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Try to make at least one person happy every day. If you cannot do a kind deed, speak a kind word. If you cannot speak a kind word, think a kind thought. Count up, if you can, the treasure of happiness that you would dispense in a week, in a year, in a lifetime!
Lawrence G. Lovasik
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for 2 years and have now reached over 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
2198. for so many good words to say, words matter
2199. for fond memories of Michigan
2200. for cards to send out, I’ve got them, now to get them addressed
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.
Napolean Hill
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I can't believe 47 days to Christmas, but then Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching!
I like the advice your grandmother gave you years ago about words! That is something we need to continue to pass down to future generations :)
