ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

1 DAY TILL SUMMER
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
The Bald Eagle was designated as the United States National Emblem on June 20, 1782, by our founding fathers at the Second Continental Congress.
Today is American Eagle Day which offers many teachable moments for sharing ornithological lessons with children, completing eagle-related craft projects, visiting real bald eagles at the zoo, or simply going birdwatching.
If eagle-eyed birdwatchers hold their binoculars carefully on June 20th, there's no telling what they might spot. Perhaps a bald eagle!
He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ringed with the azure world, he stands.
The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.
Alfred, Lord Tennyson, The Eagle
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You cannot fly like an eagle with wings of a wren.
William Henry Hudson
Eagles are not only fascinating, amazing and symbolic of strength, but really do help us to see ourselves. We too were meant to fly. Eagles teach us how to take risks, making a leap of faith when the time is right. They remind us to take heart and gather our courage.
There are times when the good Lord simply wants us to discover that we are underneath His wings, His everlasting arms! He wants us to learn that our security is not in our bank accounts, our jobs, homes or possessions, but in Him alone.
Tuesday and Wednesday were a little cooler here but for the rest of the week into next week they say our temps are rising and a few of those days we may be close to 90. I think summertime is starting off with some heat. Keep cool all!
I hope you all have wonderful Thursday!
May you have the strength of eagles' wings, the faith and courage to fly to new heights, and the wisdom of the universe to carry you there.
Native American blessing
Flying Above The Storm
Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks?
The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come.
When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it high above the storm.
While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring high above it, gliding with ease.
The eagle does not escape the storm, it just simply uses the storm to lift it higher.
It rises on the winds that bring the storm into its world.
When the storms of life come upon us -- and all of us will experience them -- we can rise above them by setting our minds and faith toward God!!!
The storms do not have to overcome us.
We can allow God to lift us above them. God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that brings sickness, pain, tragedy, failure and disappointments in our lives, and make something good come from it.
We can soar above the storm.
Remember, it is not the burdens of life which weigh us down, but it is how we handle them that counts.
But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
688. for eagles, a symbol of majestic beauty, great strength, long life
689. for the courage and strength to reach our goals
690. for all those priceless treasures that make our lives rich and full
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
Whether or not you reach your goals in life depends entirely on how well you prepare for them and how badly you want them. You're eagles! Stretch your wings and fly to the sky.
Ronald McNair
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
