90 DAYS UNTIL FALL
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
The earliest days of summer simply beckon us outdoors for fresh air and fun. June 24th is Swing a Kid Day, a super opportunity to enjoy a few minutes together on a tire swing, swing set or hammock.
If you seek a quieter diversion, why not simply curl up on a cozy porch swing with a special child to share a favorite storybook in the shade?
The Swing
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
River and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside--
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown--
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!
Robert Louis Stevenson
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The swing on your porch is a better liver of life than the chair in front of your desk.
Terri Guillemets
I love swings! Don't you? Down I fall and up I go! I surely do enjoy my porch swing and have had the opportunity to share it with a grandchild or two. Swinging in the summertime is one of my favorite occupations and it's good exercise too. More exercise than just sitting, anyway.
Being on a swing reminds me of the moods we have. Sometimes we are up and sometimes we are down. No matter how hard we might try we can never be always up. There are going to be things that happen in our lives that'll bring us down. Those tough times in life can be what makes us soar higher though. Just like we can't always have the sunshine, there will be rainy days ahead. The great thing is that it is our choice, whether or not we want to swing high or low.
Attitudes are what count.
May this new week bring us all only those highs in life!
Happiness
When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.
The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've every had.
It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives. Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love you back!
Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart but if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.
Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.
There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real!
Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy.
Always put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the other person, too. The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear.
The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you can't go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
Thank you for life, and all the little ups and downs that make it worth living.
Travis Barker
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
700. For swings and kids to swing with
701. thankful that there are more ups than downs in my life
702. for the joy that children can bring
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
Would you like to swing on a star? Carry moonbeams home in a jar? And be better off than you are …
Originally sung by Bing Crosby, 1944
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

One of the items on my wish list is a porch swing. What I wouldn't give to be able to sit on a porch and just swing away and dream all my dreams. Blessings
Love all your thoughts as always Pam. When I was a girl I used to love to sing that Bing Crosby song. It was one of my favourites. Loved it. I so would love to be able to jump on a swing and fly to the sky, but alas . . . I get motion sick. Yes . . . even on a swing. It's so sad. lol xxoo
