If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's THURSDAY!

All good reasons to celebrate this September!
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
September is National Biscuit Month
September is the month for fresh, hot biscuits for your back-to-school students. Whether sweet or savory, this yeast-free quick bread is good for breakfasts and lunch boxes alike.
From biscuits and gravy, to buttermilk biscuits, to cheese biscuits and more, you'll have your fill of recipes to choose from.
What the British call biscuits are known in North America as cookies or crackers. Scones are the UK counterpart to what Americans think of when we think of biscuits.
Here is a recipe for Chili Cheddar Biscuits
1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
3 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold butter
1/2 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
Combine the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk and egg just until moistened. Add cheese and mix well.
Turn into a lightly floured surface. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a 2 1/2 biscuit cutter. Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
Doing the best at this moment puts us in the best place for the next moment.
Oprah Winfrey
The strings of a guitar on their own are important. They are separate, different and unique. When they choose to come together they can make great sounds. It is the same with moments. Each day is made up of many moments and the vast majority of them are good and positive. God calls us to do our best with each moment that comes our way. This puts us in the best place for the next moment. As we look back on the past month of August, it has been a collection of many moments. It is always good to look back and reflect at the end of any month. We let go of those moments that were negative, unhelpful and best forgotten and we treasure those that were filled with love and blessings. We thank the Lord for the month just gone and we look forward to new beginnings in September.
I did hear from DS#6 on Tuesday and he says that the doctor is unsure of the procedure he'll be having on the 8th. The lump that was found is decreasing in size on it's own and he may just do a biopsy instead of surgery. He has to review the scans that were done before making a decision. I pray for the doctor caring for my son that he'll be guided to make a good decision and proceed accordingly.
The cooler days that we had at the beginning of the week are gone and it's supposed to be very hot here the next few days and into the weekend. We may even have a chance of thunderstorms coming our way too. Right now it's only 20 or 30 per cent so it may be that we don't have any at all. Everyone looks forward to celebrating Labor Day weekend with many outdoor activities so we'll hope for sunny and dry days ahead.
DD and her hubby have a family reunion coming up for his side of the family too and I'll be praying for safe travels for all of them too.
The Farmer's Almanac is calling for a Wet and Wild Winter...They also predicated the hurricane we just had so I tend to believe them. A very active storm track will bring much heavier than normal precipitation from the Southern Plains through Tennessee into Ohio, the Great Lakes, and the Northeast. Because of above normal temperatures, much of the precipitation will likely be rain or mixed precipitation, although, during February, some potent East Coast storms could leave heavy snow, albeit of a wet and slushy consistency.
Enjoy these nice days while we still have them!
Happy Thursday everyone!
COUNTING THE DAYS
Legend says, if it's fair on September 1, it will be fair for the entire month.
20 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma

Hi Pam, what an encouraging post....I truly needed it as September is my least favorite month of the year. I think it has to do with the stormy weather in Florida.
Sending prayers for your son.
I always appreciate your comments.

So much good stuff in this post! You got me wanting a hot-buttered biscuit - like Mama made - from the start!! I really like the comparison of the guitar strings to moments in our lives. So true!
I do hope the showers make it to Louisiana soon! It is still 100+ each day, but we're hoping for a cool front - in the 90's - next week.
May God touch your son and give his doctor guidance in the days ahead.
