ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
SEPTEMBER 18TH, 2011
It's SUNDAY!
National Women's Friendship Day
National Women's Friendship Day is a great day for you ladies. It's a great day to be a woman. The objective of this day, is to promote special friendship among women. The power of women's friendships is enormous.
Women share their deepest feelings and fondest dreams.
We offer each other emotional support, encouragement, and compassion.
If you're a woman, you know how important your friendships with other women are to you.
Odds are, if asked, you might describe your relationship with your closest woman friend very simply:
She's there for me; I'm there for her. Any time, day or night.
Ladies, have a happy National Women's Friendship Day!
A Special Friend
A friend joyfully sings with you
on the mountaintop
Silently walks beside you
through the valley
Warms you by her presence
Trusts you with a secret
And remembers you in prayer
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
National Cheeseburger Day
It's unclear where the cheeseburger was invented, but it's a food item with a vaguely American feel and a distinctly American following! Whether you top yours with American cheese, Swiss, Cheddar, or Mozzarella, raise your bun to salute National Cheeseburger Day.
All American Onion Cheeseburger
1 pound ground beef
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 can (2.8 ounce size) French fried onions, divided
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup pasteurized process cheese spread
4 hamburger buns
Heat broiler or grill.
In a medium bowl combine ground beef, worcestershire sauce, 1/2 can fried onions and seasonings. Form into burgers. Broil or grill to desired doneness.
Place cheese spread in small microwave safe bowl; microwave on high 1 minute or until hot. Spoon cheese sauce over burgers. Top with remaining onions. Broil 30 seconds or until onions are golden. Serve on hamburger rolls.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
To the Women in my life----Love you one and all.
When I was little, I used to believe in the concept of one best friend, and then I started to become a woman. And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up, God would show you the best in many friends. One friend's best is needed when you're going through things with your children.
Another friend's best is needed when you're going through things with your Mom.
Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be. One friend will say let's pray together, another let's cry together, another let's fight together, another let's walk away together.
One friend will meet your spiritual need, another your shoe fetish, another your love for movies, another will be with you in your season of confusion, another will be your clarifier, another the wind beneath your wings.
But whatever their assignment in your life, on whatever the occasion, on whatever the day, or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself...
those are your friends.
It may all be wrapped up in one woman, but for many it's wrapped up in several...one from 3rd grade, one from high school, from the college years, a couple from old jobs, several from church, on some days your mother, on others your sisters, and on some days it's the one that you needed just for that day or week that you needed someone with a fresh perspective, or the one who didn't know all your baggage, or the one who would just listen without judging...those are good girlfriends/best friends.
I thank my girlfriends, those who honor intimacy, those who hold trust, and those who hold me up when life is just too heavy!
The special bond we share is unique. Thanks for the words we've shared. The prayers we've sent up.The laughs, the tears, the phone calls, the emails, the shopping, the movies, the lunches, the dinners, the talking, talking, talking and the listening, listening, listening....
So whether you've been there 20 minutes or 20 years, I love you!
I'll pass this on to the women that God has placed in my life to make a difference. Life is not measured by the number of years in our life...but by the lives in our years.
I do not know who authored this precious letter. I wish it had been me : )
COUNTING THE DAYS
There are big ships and small ships. But the best ship of all is friendship.
