ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
SEPTEMBER 10TH, 2011
It's SATURDAY!
SWAP IDEAS DAY
Swap Ideas Day encourages us to share and trade ideas and concepts. As you fully participate in this day, we think you will get plenty of good ideas to put to use in your everyday life. Some will be so good, that you will want to pass them along, or swap them to others.
Sharing is good. Ideas are a good thing, too. Putting the two together should produce a real winner of a day, eh!?
Power flows from sharing thoughts and learning from each other, taking an idea and building and growing it
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
TV DINNER DAY
The TV dinner is a prepackaged frozen meal that really captures people's imagination! Can it be the peas and carrots? Or is it the cobbler? Maybe the aluminum tray with its little compartments is the reason for the allure of this compact meal. It's TV Dinner Day!
Created by Gerry Thomas for Swanson in 1954, the TV dinner hit grocery store shelves in correspondence with the first national telecast of color TV. The increasing prominence of the freezer as a household convenience paired with the rise of television guaranteed the success of the frozen meal, which took only 25 minutes in the oven.
Making your own tv dinners will save you a bundle and make your lunch preparations as simple as pushing a button on the microwave. In addition it's a great way to use up leftovers that might otherwise go to waste. Instead of letting food languish in the refrigerator until it becomes too old to eat, or eating it 4 days straight, fill plastic containers with meal sized portions. Voila! You have ready made meals.
Homemade tv dinners not only keep you from being tempted to eat out, but also provide variety at lunch.
No work before, no dishes after! And what a meal!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
The great secret that all old people share is that you really haven't changed in seventy or eighty years. Your body changes, but you don't change at all. And that, of course, causes great confusion.
Doris Lessing
It's true I think that even though my body is getting older, I'm still the same me. I have changed a little over the years as some experiences and people and things have affected my lifestyle and the way I think, but in general I'm still me.
Today is our family celebration of our little Mr. Wonderful's first birthday. The rain continues here but we're supposed to see some sunshine the beginning of next week. Meanwhile it'll be a happy time today celebrating his birthday!
Take good care all! Travel safely!
COUNTING THE DAYS
Keep your fears to yourself but share your courage with others.
Robert Louis Stevenson
12 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma
