ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
AUGUST 24TH, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's WEDNESDAY!
THIS IS BE SAFE AT HOME WEEK
More people are injured in and around home than at work. This week promotes and emphasizes safety in and around the home to eliminate senseless home-related injuries.
To raise awareness of the dangers lurking in our homes, August 22-26 has been designated as National Safe At Home Week. It's good to have a designated week to raise awareness of home safety, but being safe in your own home should be more than just a one week a year goal.
The leading cause of accidental fatalities involving children in the home is poisoning. Keep medicines and household chemicals safely out of the reach of children, even if it means locking them up. And don't forget those items under the sink. Kids have a way of finding them, and they can cause serious harm
For adults, the number one cause of household fatalities is slips and falls. To combat this problem:
Install lights and light switches at the top and bottom of stairs, and place night lights in bathrooms, bedrooms, and other dark areas.
If you have small carpets, tape them to the floor or remove them completely.
Clean up any spills right away.
Make it a family rule that nobody can wear socks or smooth soled footwear on tiled or wooden floors, especially if those floors are waxed.
Keep hallways and stairs clear of misplaced or miscellaneous objects.
If you don't have handrails on your stairs, consider installing them. And don't forget the outside stairs.
In winter, remove snow and ice from all walking surfaces as soon as practical.
Make home safety a year round project for your family. The end result will be worth the effort.
Safety doesn't happen by accident

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
Working safely may get old, but so do those who practice it.

On the news last night I found out that there was an earthquake in Virginia that was felt here in Northern Ohio. I didn't feel the earth shake but others around here did.
Hurricane safety is once again a topic in everyone's mind too as Irene is blowing her way to our east coast. I'll be praying for all those that might be affected. Dear Lord, calm the storm.
I am also asking prayers for DS#6 as he called last night to let me know he'll be having surgery soon. We don't know yet exactly when yet, but he discovered a small lump which they believe could be benign and it has to be removed. I'll let you know more when I find out more.
Be safe everyone!

Oh yum! That pie sounds amazing!
I love peach pie but so seldom do I make it because DH doesn't care for it.
Hope all turns out well for your son.
