National Zucchini Day

By the time August arrives, gardeners are reaping far more zucchini than they can possibly use. They use it daily in an untold number of recipes, from soups and stews, to breads and dips. Still, the fruit matures on the vine faster than anyone can even pick it. Zucchini growers become desperate, as they try to give zucchini away to family, friends and everyone they encounter. By August, even non-gardeners have had enough. Everyone avoids you, with your arms laden with giveaway fruit.

Desperate times calls for desperate measure. Due to the overzealous planting of zucchini, citizens are asked to drop off baskets of the squash on neighbors' doorsteps today

The zucchini may look like the cucumber, but make no mistake, it's got so much more to offer. It's perfect in pastas, fun to fry, and can even be baked into bread. Zucchini was brought to the United States in the 1920s with Italian immigrants who knew they didn't want to write it out of their recipes. And it's a good thing it came our way because it really caught on. Celebrate this snazzy squash by cooking some up today.

All of us become disappointed when we have a plan that fails, a hope that does not materialize, a goal that is unreached. When things like that happen, for a certain period of time we experience a letdown.

That's when we have to make the decision to adapt and adjust, to take a new approach, to just keep going despite our feelings. When you get disappointed is, you can always make the decision to get reappointed. So that no matter what happens to frustrate us or how long it make take for our dreams to come true we are not going to give up and quite just because of our emotions. Happiness is a choice.
