ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FEBRUARY 4TH, 2010
It's THURSDAY!
And it’s time I listed some things that I’m thankful for. I haven’t done that in awhile. I’ve very thankful that I’ve been healthy so far this winter.
I’m thankful for my warm home and clothing too.
I’m thankful for my family . Each and every one of them is so precious to me.
I’m thankful for the automatic car starter that the babes gave me for Christmas as I’ve had a warm ride to work every morning.
I’m thankful that in just 2 short months I’ll be retired.
I’m thankful for the gift of each day !
I’m sure there are lots more things I could say I’m thankful for but in order to keep this on short side I’ll just list those few. I hope you too can find lots to be thankful for today and every day.
THINKING
Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Paul was writing to remind the Corinthian church members how they should love one another. It is a lesson about the love between believers, neighbors, co-workers, enemies, persecutors, and even those people we just don’t like.
Our love for others, all others, should be sweet, sincere, and powerful
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
QUICK AND EASY SUPPERS were always a favorite around my house when I had the family to feed after working all day so here is a recipe I found for one that might help you when you have little time and a hungry people to feed.
BEEF AND PASTA
3/4 pound ground beef
1 3/4 cups Vegetable Broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crushed
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 can (about 8 ounces) stewed tomatoes
1 1/2 cups uncooked medium tube-shaped or corkscrew-shaped pasta
Cook the beef in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat until it's well browned, stirring often to break up the meat. Pour off any fat.
Stir the broth, Worcestershire, oregano, garlic and tomatoes in the skillet and heat to a boil. Stir in the pasta. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 10 minutes, stirring often. Uncover.
Cook for 5 minutes or until the pasta is tender.
PRAYERS
Lord, have patience with my limits and help me accept them and grow.
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AMEN
AROUND HOME
We had snow about all day yesterday. The flakes were big, fluffy ones that lazily floated to the ground and most of them melted because it was above freezing for a good part of the afternoon. Today we may see some sunshine, but Friday the snow will return they say.
FAMILY
DS#5 and DD usually come to church on Sundays and they sit with me. This week we’ve decided to go to church on Saturday evening (which is an option at our church) and then DS#5 is having us over for some homemade bean soup afterward. He has the ham bone from Christmas in his freezer so he decided it was time to use it. What a treat!
COUNTING THE DAYS
Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it
