ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FEBRUARY 6TH, 2010
It's SATURDAY!
We have snow – Do you?
Here in northern Ohio is not as bad as a lot of those to the south and east of us but we have enough for sure. It looks to me like 5-6 inches new stuff on the ground and more where it has drifted. Thankfully my good neighbor is out with his snow blower in the drive way this morning.
February is just beginning and we have the rest of it and the whole month of March for lots more chances of snow too. They say the week ahead is going to be very cold so I’m sure that what we have on the ground now is not going away for awhile.
I’ve read that we should be enjoying these peaceful winter days indoors as before we know it we’ll be out working in our yards and mowing the grass instead of sitting inside reading a good book or watching a movie. I for one prefer the yard work.
Hang in there all Spring will come !
THINKING
Listening is love in action
Leo Buscaglia
It's often hard to clear our mind and offer our undivided attention and just listen. When speaking to someone, especially if they are hurting, we need to make an effort to erase any thoughts of self. Instead, give them one hundred percent of our attention to ensure that they are able to get their point across, and not to worry about our own
Listen to others. People yearn to be heard and understood. It's the best thing you can do for them... and for yourself.
Remember the 2-to-1 rule - listen twice as much as you talk. As philosopher Epictetus observed, We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Bacon Wrapped Sausages
3/4 pound regular bacon
1 pound package small smoked sausages
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Cut bacon slices in half. Fry bacon in large pan until some of the fat is rendered but the bacon is still pliable; do not let bacon get crisp.
Cool bacon 5 minutes on paper towels, then wrap each sausage with a piece of the precooked bacon. Roll each little bundle in brown sugar, fasten with a toothpick, and place on wire rack. Place rack in 13" x 9" baking pan lined with foil.
Drizzle maple syrup over the sausages and sprinkle with pepper. Bake 25-35 minutes until sausages are hot and bacon is crisp. Remove rack from pan and cool sausage bundles 4-5 minutes before serving. Serves 8
PRAYERS
God, grant me an understanding heart and the patience and strength to make the right decisions and carry through with them
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort.
Jane Austen
Saturday mornings are so relaxing. I enjoy sitting around and drinking my coffee and not rushing out for anything. I may have to go out and clear a little snow here later, but there is no rush on that at the moment. I need to get to the library later on too but that won’t be till afternoon. Right now I could not even drive down my street.
This evening will be a little different as I’ll off to church with DD and DS#5 and then over to DS#5’s home for dinner. I’m in such a habit of going to church on Sunday morning that it will be strange staying at home tomorrow. Change is often a good thing so I’ll just count my blessing and enjoy.
FAMILY
Just a little trivia for you today
If you want to be happy, healthy, successful, and live longer, give your spouse a kiss before you go to work each day. That's the conclusion of a study conducted by a group of German physicians and psychologists, in cooperation with insurance companies.
The study found that those who kiss their spouse each morning miss less work because of illness than those who do not. They also have fewer auto accidents on the way to work. They earn 20 to 30 percent more money and they live about five years more than those who don't even give each other a peck on the cheek. The reason for this is that the kissers begin the day with a positive attitude.
COUNTING THE DAYS
A day's most important meetings may not
be the ones we've put on our calendar
42 DAYS UNTIL SPRING !
69 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
54 DAYS UNTIL MA RETIRES
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma

Your blog is indeed a warm, bright place to visit! I love the Jane Austen quote about staying home; I totally agree with her! I live too far south for snow, but I've enjoyed curling up under a homemade quilt by the fireplace on these cold days.
