ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FEBRUARY 27TH, 2010
It's SUPER SATURDAY!
The storm is over, but we’ll still get some more snow. I was thankful yesterday that our very nice neighbor helped out clearing the drifts in the driveway so I could get out and go to work but the roads were terrible and I went to work at 20-25 miles per hour all the way. It was very slippery out.
Those white knuckle drives wear me out and I’m afraid I was grouch all day and was happy to see the roads much improved by the time I came home from work.
THINKING
The three traditional pillars of Lenten observance are prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
When feeling discouraged or disappointed about any circumstance in life, take time to become centered in prayer, to be at peace in the presence of God
Give your troubles to God who is infinitely powerful and can transform them
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
New Recipe Saturday
Put a turkey breast into the oven for Club Sandwiches. Later make some bread and microwave potato chips
1 1/3 pounds Yukon Gold or red potatoes, unpeeled, scrubbed
2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
Slice potatoes into thin (1/8-inch) rounds. Toss the slices in a medium bowl with oil and salt to coat evenly
Coat a large microwave-proof plate with cooking spray. Arrange some potato slices in a single layer on the plate. Microwave, uncovered, on High until some slices start to brown, 2 to 3 minutes (depending on potato thickness and microwave power). Turn the slices over and continue microwaving until they start to crisp and brown around the edges, 2 to 4 minutes more. Check frequently and rearrange slices as needed to prevent scorching. Transfer the chips to another plate and allow to cool completely. (They will crisp more as they cool.) Repeat with the remaining potato slices.
Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days

AROUND HOME
Just dreaming of warmer days and porch sittin’ .
It seems like it has been years since it was nice enough to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. I’ve been out a lot but not enjoying it much at all.
They say it is important to get that fresh air every day, even in the winter.

Well you "did good" driving in. I would have stayed home I guess. I don't drive in it. I suppose if I lived up there I'd be better at it.Hope you have a great day.
I was pleased to read you had safe journeys yesterday even if it was hard work.I do hope the snow doesn't stick around for very long and your future journeys will not be as hard going. How kind of your neighbour to help out at these times.Looking forward like yourself in being able to sit outside a while. Not long to go now Ma to retirement.Have a Super Saturday, In my prayers.Take Care God Bless Kath xx
Ma, I'm amazed at how much wisdom and truth you can pack into one post! It's almost as good as sittin' down for a visit with a wise, welcoming friend! Those who get to sit on your porch with you are blessed, I'm sure!
