THINKING
Jesus tells us to call God Father when we pray. So, as we pray this Lent, let’s listen to our Father’s word in scripture. The story doesn’t change: we do.
Give: Make someone laugh today
Happy people generally have a positive, joyful outlook on life. They tend to look for and think about the positive aspects of people, things, situations, and events. They can laugh at themselves and brush off little setbacks that others will brood over for days. Even in our saddest moments, laughter can be the best medicine to heal our heart and mend our minds.
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
LEFTOVER MONDAYS
More to do with leftover pork roast
Top this easy pork casserole with shredded cheese if you want. A tasty pork and mashed potato casserole
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
4 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 can (10 1/2 ounces) condensed chicken broth
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 cups diced roast pork
1 1/2 cups (10 ounce package) frozen peas and carrots, cooked and drained
2 cups prepared seasoned mashed potatoes
1/2 to 1 cup shredded cheese, optional
Heat butter in a skillet over medium-low heat; add onion and sauté until tender, about 2 minutes. Stir in flour until well blended; add salt, poultry seasoning, and pepper. Gradually add broth and water, stirring until thickened and bubbly. Add the diced pork and vegetables; heat through. Pour into a lightly greased 1 1/2-quart casserole. Spoon prepared mashed potatoes evenly over the mixture. Bake at 350° for 25 to 35 minutes, topping with cheese the last 5 minutes, if desired.
Serves 4.
PRAYERS
Lord, I seek you with all my heart. To listen to your voice and to obey you is my joy. Thank you for your love
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AMEN
AROUND HOME
Back to work today and trying to recover from the busy day yesterday. It was a joy to meet my newest grandson. Now I have 8 grandsons and 5 granddaughters. What a blessing he is to this family. Both his mom and dad are doing well and are full of joy too. I have already chosen a nickname for him and that is LUCKY. We are truly the lucky ones to have him in our family.
FAMILY
You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them
Desmond Tutu
Grandchildren are a gift and now that I’m soon to be retired I do hope to spend a lot more time with all of them. They grow up so fast and change so quickly.
