ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FEBRUARY 8TH, 2010
It's MONDAY!
We are off to another cold start here today. The weather man says we’ll have a high of 26 degrees and maybe a chance for the sunshine to peak through too.
I’ve got my layers on to keep warm and I must admit that I’m really getting tired of lugging all this clothing along with me where ever I go.
The good thing is that when we finally warm up I will feel as though I’ve lost 10 pounds. Shedding all the extra layers will be an instant weight loss for me.
Keep warm every one and take good care !
THINKING
This morning is a good time to reconnect with God in prayer. There seems to be no better way to start a day than in prayer. With a new day and a new week to look forward to, we can rest assured our Lord is always there.
The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus
Philippians 4:7
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
TIPS FROM THE LEFTOVER EXPERT
Over the years Sunday’s Meal has always made Monday’s meal for me.
I always make enough for leftovers. If I’ve roasted a chicken for Sunday dinner, there is always enough roast to use it for the main ingredient in a quick Monday meal. I’ve put together a quick chicken salad with some mayo, grapes and chopped celery for example. Or chopped up the leftover chicken and stirred in a little barbecue sauce and have chicken barbecue sandwiches on Monday night.
Living alone had made me into a leftover expert for sure.
PRAYERS
Thank You, God, for Your ever-present help
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
A long life may not be good enough but a good life is long enough
Benjamin Franklin
I’ve got to say that for the most part I lead a very good life. I’ve loving friends and family that are always there when I need them. I’ve a home that keeps me warm and sheltered through the storms of winter and the heat of summer. I’m never bored and love doing many different things. There is no end to the things in life that make it very good for me.
Retirement is getting closer and closer and the job that has taken up so many hours of my life will cease. With anticipation I’m looking forward to more of the good life. Will that happen? We’ll see…
FAMILY
Some people are working backstage ... some are playing in the orchestra ... some are on stage performing ... some sit in the audience as critics ... and some are simply there to applaud and appreciate it all. Know what your role is at any given time or place in your life

It seems that each one of my children is so different. Just as I am very different from each of my sisters. Often there are times I wonder if they were really raised in the same family. Yet I do know they were and each one of them was brought up pretty much the same way. Celebrating the uniqueness in each one of us is an important thing to do and I’m thankful for each of them and the wonderful qualities that each one has to offer.
COUNTING THE DAYS
It isn't your position that makes you happy or unhappy, it's your disposition.

I just love your posts; they are full of good stuff! Phil. 4:7 and your thoughts on beginning the day with prayer caught my attention today. Reminds me of a Hudson Taylor quote: "Don't have your concert first and tune your instruments afterward."
Thanks for sharing so many encouraging, warm thoughts - and your heartfelt prayers!
