TODAY'S THOUGHT
What we do today, right now, Will have an accumulated effect on all our tomorrows
Alexandra Stoddard
JUST FOR TODAY
We all need to look for the silver linings in our day-to-day lives
Just for today I will pray for others. As I focus my thoughts and feelings on the goodness that is the Christ essence within every person I will remember we are all spiritually perfect beings
TODAY’S QUOTE
How often we forget the little words of thanks, of praise, or encouragement. When we look back at our own life we remember not the gifts we have been given, but the smile, the kiss, the praise that has helped and enriched us. We must pray not to forget to give freely these "little things" to everyone we meet today

IT’S WEDNESDAY !!
OVER THE HUMP DAY!
Well now they are saying that after the clouds clear away, we could have partly sunny skies today. If you hear something strange today it will me shouting out thanks and praise for the sunshine. The other part of the forecast said that it will go down to 38 degrees tonight and areas away from the lake could have a chance of frost. Often we do get the lake effect here and because of that do not get frost, but be warned…it just might frost tonight.
This is the last day of September and it sure did fly by fast. October will bring lots of fun things for us though, the least of which will be pumpkins and everyone loves them. We like to carve them, decorate with them and eat them too in delicious pumpkin pies.
This coming weekend will be our Sweethearts birthday and with a little luck and the rain does stop I might even be able to celebrate with her on Saturday. No one likes to be camping in the rain so we’ll have to see how the weather goes…
I had to turn the furnace on as it got below 65 degrees at my house last night. I hate to do that because it seems once you do it, it will be on from now until sometime in May. I know some of you in the south and out west are still enjoying summer like temps, but here it is getting chilly.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Michael and his angels battled against the dragon...Satan, the seducer of the whole world, was driven out
Revelation 12:7, 9
If Satan has been defeated, why must we still fight him? He has lost the war, but on his way to hell, is trying to exact more casualties upon the kingdom of God. He is a sore loser, and his fury knows no limits, for he knows his time is short.
Therefore, if we relax our efforts in finishing the fight (Gal 6:9), we might suffer some casualties ourselves. Because God has used angels to successfully fight Satan, and because the Lord hasn't changed His battle plan (see Heb 13:8), we need the angels and thankfully have a enveloping sense of their loving protection and guidance.
In the sight of the angels I will sing your praises, Lord

IT’S TUESDAY !!
BrrrChill !
After having temps in the 80’s last week it does seem chilly here this morning. It was a windy Monday and the wind coming over the lake from Canada is cold compared to what we’ve been used to.
It was low 50’s overnight and we have a high of 60 today. Wind is still promised to us too. So there is a wind chill factored in there too.
Just a little forewarning of what is to come I’m sure.
Work was very busy as usual on a Monday. Today will be a little slower, but there will still be plenty to do. It’s data entry day for me. Computer work all day long. Really there is rarely a time I’m not on the computer. Everything I do is on the computer.
Thank the good Lord I do know how to use one. And thankfully my eyes are still holding up. Although they do not like wet dark mornings for sure.
I had my OJ and vitamins and am still working on the attitude.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

BACK TO WORK!
Have you had enough rain yet? I have and guess what -- there is more on the way! Looking at the long range forecast we may see some sun on Thursday! I’ll be counting the days. We not only have rain but high winds in the forecast too. Today through tomorrow morning.
Yes, the season has arrived – short days, long cold nights and no sun.
Here I go again, with all my might, to try and ward of the SAD disease that effects me every year. I’ll be taking extra vitamins and drinking more OJ too. I will try to be more optimistic and do some powerful positive thinking.
This week will be a long full 5 day work week and there is nothing on the calendar but work til Friday when I hope to be off to the camper for the weekend. I’ve got to say though that if they are predicting another weekend of 70 or more % chance of rain, I’ll probably stay home.

IT’S THURSDAY !!
Thankfully it is the last day of the work week for me. I am hoping we’ll be having some good weather as I’ll be at the campsite for 3 days now. I have one more long weekend in October for camping and then after that the next 3 day-er will be at Thanksgiving. I hate to see my vacation days dwindle down but you know I’ll be having lots more of them come next year.
The campsite closes the weekend of the 24th/25th of October.
This year has flown by so far and before we know it those holidays will be here. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas as always because it will mean having most of my family together.
I hope you all have a great weekend filled with lots of that good R&R. I’ll see you with my newsletter again come next Monday – The good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise.

TEACHERS
On the 6th day, God created men and women.
On the 7th day, he rested.
Not so much to recuperate, but rather to prepare himself for the work he was going to do on the next day. For it was on that day-the 8th day-that God created the FIRST TEACHER.This TEACHER, though taken from among men and women, had several significant modifications. In general, God made the TEACHER more durable than other men and women.
The TEACHER was made to arise at a very early hour and to go to bed no earlier than 11:30 p.m .- with no rest in between.
The TEACHER had to be able to withstand being locked up in an air-tight classroom for six hours with thirty-five "monsters" on a rainy Monday. And the TEACHER had to be fit to correct 103 term papers over Easter vacation.
Yes, God made the TEACHER tough...but gentle too.
The TEACHER was equipped with soft hands to wipe away the tears of the neglected and lonely student...of those of the sixteen year old girl who was not asked to the prom. And into the TEACHER God poured a generous amount of patience. Patience when a student asks to repeat the directions the TEACHER has just repeated for someone else. Patience when the kids forget their lunch money for the fourth day in a row. Patience when one-third of the class fails the test. Patience when the text books haven't arrived yet, and the semester starts tomorrow. And
God gave the TEACHER a heart slightly bigger than the average human heart. For the TEACHER's heart had to be big enough to love the kid who screams, "I hate this class-it's boring!" and to love the kid who runs out of the classroom at the end of the period without so much as a"goodbye", let alone a "thank you".
And lastly, God gave the TEACHER an abundant supply of HOPE. For God knew that the TEACHER would always be hoping. Hoping that the kids would someday learn how to spell... hoping not to have lunchroom duty... hoping that Friday would come... hoping for a free day.... hoping for deliverance.
When God finish ed creating the TEACHER, he stepped back and admired the work of his hands. And God saw that the TEACHER was good. Very Good! And God smiled, for when he looked at the TEACHER, he saw into the future.
He knew that the future is in the hands of the TEACHERS.
And because God loves Teachers so much, on the 9th day God created Snow Days

TODAY’S REFLECTION
You have eaten, but have not been satisfied; You have drunk, but have not been exhilarated; have clothed yourselves, but not been warmed; And whoever earned wages earned them for a bag with holes in it
Haggai 1: 1-8
Today’s reading encourage us to reflect on what brings us joy in life. Next time you are feeling down, try this experiment. Think of someone who would benefit from a random act of kindness and do it. It can be the smallest thing. Think of someone you love who needs to hear that and send an email or make a call. Take your kids to the library or a park and let the dishes in the sink wait. Invite your elderly neighbor who doesn’t get out much for a cup of coffee. The possibilities are endless.
Once you’re focusing on bringing joy to someone else, the sun will come out on your own day.
In giving, we receive and what we receive is the gift of joy.

IT’S WEDNESDAY !!
OVER THE HUMP DAY!
After today just one more day of work and then a 3 – day weekend. Today will go by pretty fast but tomorrow will be a long one. There will not be much to do so I’m afraid I’ll be doing the office cleaning. It’s not one of my favorite jobs but then it beats doing nothing.
The promise of rain is still with us for today although yesterday we didn’t get any. It was very humid though and felt more like August than September. I’m thankful we’ve not had the terrible flooding that the folks in Georgia have been experiencing. They are in my prayers for sure.
Tonight I’ll be finishing up the laundry that was started yesterday and packing my bags for camp. I leave right from work so I want to have things ready to go in the morning. The campground is treating us with dinner Saturday night. It’s a thank you dinner for all the people like me that camp there for the season. They have it catered so it should be very nice.
That’s the news from home as I know it. All has been pretty quiet here.

Did you hear about the bear hunter? Well, he was out hunting for bears one day, and soon came across a large, trophy sized bear. He raised his rifle and took careful aim. Just as he was about to pull the trigger, the bear turned and began to speak to him!
Isn't it better to talk than to shoot? What do you want? Let's negotiate the matter, said the bear.
Lowering his rifle in shock, the hunter thought a second, and then replied, I want a fur coat.
Good, said the bear, that is a negotiable item. I only want a full stomach, so let us sit down and negotiate a compromise.
They sat down to negotiate and after a time the bear walked away, alone. The negotiations had been successful.
The bear had a full stomach, and the hunter had his fur coat!
Moral of this tale: Watch out for the compromises of the world!
TODAY’S REFLECTION
Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authorityover all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic.
Luke 9: 1-6
It was the material things Jesus told his disciples to leave behind. Their task was to take the words of Jesus, his teachings they had heard, and their own ears, eyes and hearts. These they were to carry on their journey to the people to whom they were sent. These are the things we are called to carry in the 21st century. Over a life-time of gathering material goods, there is a strong sense of simplifying our life-style. Having someone who is willing to listen, encourage and hearten them can heal people. Being affirmed, having their dignity respected, their story acknowledged, can be as healing as a physical cure. It gives them courage to continue with a new heart and a new spirit.Daily Mediations

I had a great weekend that went by too fast as always. It’s BACK TO WORK as usual for a Monday morning! Hopefully it won’t be raining as wet dark mornings make it very difficult for me to see where I’m going.

LIVING IN OHIO...
After living just about all my life in Ohio, I know how to be an Ohioan.
While I was learning, written guidelines would have been helpful. So I've written some to assist others.
1. Know the state casserole.
The state casserole consists of canned green beans, Campbell's cream of mushroom soup and dried onions. You can safely take this casserole to any social event and know that you will be accepted. In fact, Neil Armstrong almost took this casserole to the moon in case he encountered alien life there. NASA nixed the plan out of concern that the casserole would overburden the Apollo rocket at liftoff.
2. Get used to food festivals.
The Ohio General Assembly, in an effort to grow bigger offensive linemen, passed legislation years ago requiring every incorporated community to have at least one festival per year dedicated to a high-fat food. Thus, Sugarcreek honors Swiss cheese, Bucyrus has a bratwurst celebration and Gahanna, seeking an edge over other towns, has recently introduced the Triglyceride and Low-density Lipoprotein Festival. It is your duty as an Ohioan to attend these festivals and at least buy an elephant ear.
3. Know the geography.Of Florida, I mean.
I've run into Ohioans who couldn't tell you where Toledo is but they know the exact distance from Fort Myers to Bonita Springs. That's because all Ohioans go to Florida in the winter. Or plan to when they retire. Or are related to retired Ohioans who have a place in Sarasota. We consider Florida to be the Lower Peninsula of Ohio.
4. Speaking of Ohio weather . . .Wear layers or die.
The thing to remember about Ohio seasons is that they can occur at anytime. We have spring like days in January and wintry weekends in October. April is capable of providing a sampling of all four seasons in a single 24-hour period. For these reasons, Ohio is the Layering Capital of the World. Even layering, however, can pose danger. Golfers have been known to dress for hypothermia and end up dead of heat stroke because they couldn't strip off their layers of plaid fast enough on a changeable spring morning.
5. Don't take Ohio place names literally.
Upper Sandusky is below regular Sandusky. Circleville is square. East Liverpool has no counterpart to the west. Also, if a town has the same name as a foreign capital..... Lima or Berlin, for example...... you must not pronounce it that way lest you come under suspicion as a spy. Hence, it's not LEE-ma as in Peru, but LYE-ma as in bean.
6. Become mulch literate.
Ohioans love mulch and appreciate its subtle differences. Learn the difference between hardwood, cypress and pine bark at a minimum. Researchers think the state affinity for mulch derives from its relatively flat terrain. People have a subconscious need for topography, and when it can't be supplied naturally, they are more likely to make little mulch hillocks in their front yards.
7. Be knowledgeable about sports.
In order to talk sports with obsessive fans in Ohio, you have to be knowledgeable on three levels - professional, college and high school. The truly expert Ohio sports fan knows not only the name of the hotshot quarterback at Abercrombie and Fitch High School, but also what colleges he's interested in, how much he bench-presses, who he took to the prom and what he got on his biology quiz last week.
8. About trends . . .
Remember that Ohioans are never the first to embrace trends. When we do embrace them, we do so with a Midwestern pragmatism. For example, if you see an Ohioan with a nose ring, there's a good chance he's had it undercoated to guard against rust.
9. How to sell things . . .
The best way to sell something in Ohio is to attach the term "Amish" to it. The product need not be genuinely Amish. This would explain the existence of Amish moo shu pork.
I hope you found this guide to be useful. If it offends you, please let me know. I will bring a green-bean casserole to your house to make amends.

Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my sighing. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation

The words from the Psalmist reveal one thing we do very well, and one thing we do not do so well. This is what we do very well: In the morning I lay my requests before you
Waiting for Him to respond is never easy! This is what we don't do so well:

IT’S THURSDAY !!
AND
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR ‘LITTLE RAY OF SUNSHINE’ BOY!
May the dear Lord bless you today and always.
On the way to work yesterday morning I was greeted by a beautiful sight in the sky. The sky itself was a deep midnight blue (its dark when I leave for work) and very clear. What I saw was the bright sliver of a moon in the eastern sky which had a very bright star to the left of it. Together they were just stunning!
Maybe that star was a planet, I’m not sure. I’ll have to check it out but it sure was pretty. I also discovered that my little creature from the other morning had met up with someone or something as there was a very strong smell in the air just about the same spot that I’d seen him. The skunk had made his presence known but thankfully I did not see him.
I was surprised to see a weather alert on for our county when I checked the weather on line yesterday evening. It’s been a little breezy out but temp wise mild and very few clouds in the sky. Here’s what I found when I clicked on it
…Risk of High Rip Tides along the Erie shoreline.
I live near the lake but not by it so it really didn’t concern me; I just thought it unusual as we had no storms.
This evening I may go to Bible Study as our Pastor is starting it again after the summer break. I like to go but also have some things that need to be finished before the weekend so we’ll see…
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Luke 7:32
Jesus spoke of God’s mercy, and also warned of his judgment—yet they still found excuses not to follow him. They called John the Baptist possessed and labeled Jesus a hypocrite
You may know someone who is resisting God’s love. Any mention of the gospel seems to irritate them. Maybe something in their past has caused them to become cynical about faith. Perhaps you’ve already concluded that they will never come around. But if Jesus gave his last breath for them, then we should have hope for them too! No one is beyond the reach of his mercy

Today we go OVER THE HUMP of this work week. So far it’s been a busy one for me.
It was nice to take a break yesterday evening and play my dulcimer. I don’t do it enough anymore and am even forgetting some of the music I once knew. As always there were a few laughs to be had.
Laughter is the best medicine for sure.
Today is supposed to be a bit cooler and we are supposed to be in the low 70’s through the weekend. I see some partly cloudy days ahead but no rain.

The Green, Green Grass Of Home
When Mike was 5, he wanted a jungle gym set with swings that would take his breath away and bars to take him to the summit, and his father said: Good grief, I've seen those things in back yards, and do you know what they look like? Mud holes in a pasture. Kids digging their gym shoes in the ground. It'll kill the grass.
And Mike's mother said, It'll come back.
Between breaths, when Daddy was blowing up the plastic swimming pool, he warned: You know what they're going to do to this place? They're going to condemn it and use it for a missile site. I hope you know what you're doing. They'll track water everywhere and have a million water fights, and you won't be able to take out the garbage without stepping in mud up to your neck. When we take this down, we'll have the only brown lawn on the block.
The basketball hoop on the side of the garage attracted more crowds than the Olympics. And a small patch of lawn that started out with a barren spot the size of a garbage can lid soon drew to encompass the entire side yard.Just when it looked as if the new seed might take root, the winter came and the sled runners beat it into ridges. Mike's father shook his head and said, I never asked for much in this life only a patch of grass. And his wife smiled and said, It'll come back.
The lawn this fall was beautiful. It was green and alive and rolled out like a sponge carpet along the drive where gym shoes had trod ... along the garage where bicycles used to fall ... and around the flower beds where little boys used to dig with iced tea spoons.
But Mike's father never saw it. He anxiously looked beyond the yard and asked with a catch in his voice, he will come back, won't he?

IT’S TUESDAY !!
We have really been having some beautiful weather the last few days. More and more color is beginning to show in the trees. The sky has been blue and sunny. This is the part of fall that I like best. We don’t have any leaves to rake yet and it’s not cold and raining. Those days will come to be sure, but for now we just count our blessings and enjoy.
We had thought our humming birds had left us, but Sunday evening we did see one busy little one flitting from one place to another and sipping at the feeder. They’ll be gone before long and we’ll miss them for sure.
It is dark going to work in the early morning and that is one thing I dread. As I was driving along yesterday morning my headlights spotlighted a little black and white creature at the edge of the road. Thankfully he stopped and I didn’t run him over. That would have caused quite a stink as he was a skunk. Oh my, was I thankful he stopped.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
