ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 14TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Flag Day in the United States which commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States. which happened that day by resolution of the Second Continental Congress of 1777. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day.
Flag Day is an official holiday. One of the longest running parades is held annually in Quincy Massachusetts which began in 1952 and celebrated its 57th year in 2009. The largest Flag Day parade is held in Troy New York. The closest continuing Flag Day parade is held in Fairfield VA. Beginning is 1909 or 1910 and has had a parade every year since then.
There have been 27 differen flags over the course of our nation’s history. The one we use today features 50 states and became our flag in 1960. To celebrate today decorate your home with an American Flag and think about how you will celebrate the 4th of July this year. Either virtually or from a safe distance BBQ
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The American flag represents all of us and all the values we hold sacred.
Andrian Cronauer
When I first moved here there was no flag holder and they told me we were not allowed to make any nail or screw holes in the house. So I decided to display the flag in my flower boxes. The were visible from the street until a new home was placed next to mine. Now I’m trying to rethink a new way to show off the flag from the front of the house. I’m not sure yet how I’ll do it, but meanwhile the way I have it now will stay the way it is.
I spent yesterday afternoon visiting with my sister, while she waited for updated news on how my BIL is doing. The good news is that is now respondsive, breathing on his own and all his vitals are normal. They ran more tests but they still do not know what caused his problem. It’s hard enough waiting in the hospital, but it’s worse waiting at home.
Today I’ll probably go keep my sister company again. It’s to be another chilly day but they say we should try and enjoy it as the heat will be returning again this coming week. It’s only 50 degrees here this morning with a high today of only 62 and that is what it is inside my home this morning . A little on the chilly side for sure.

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Sure I wave the American Flag. Do you know a better flag to wave ?
Sure I love my country with all her faults. I’m not ashamed of that
never have been, never will be.

I love the U.S.A.....
Me, too … Proud to be an American!
Thanking God for the good news about your BIL! I know your sister appreciates your presence and prayers. Hugs!
Glad to hear your brother in law is doing a bit better! I hope the doctors will figure out what is going on with him.
I like to see people displaying the flag! Real patriotic I think!

We are flying our flag today as we do nearly everyday. Louis Dean put up a new flag holder earlier this year.
Prayers for your sister.....that has got to be so very hard. Your presence will surely help.
