ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 25TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!!

Today is National Handshake Day, which was the most common greeting between two people. Now with corona virus we havae stopped touching in all ways. The handshake originated in the Western world, it was a gesture of peace. demonstrated by the fact that the hands held no weapons.
Today a handshake is offered upon meeting or parting. It is an expression of goodwill, congratulations, and gratitude. Many people believe that a handshake reveals something about the character of the person who gives it. A firm handshake reflects a confident personality. while a floppy handshake reveals a shy one. A handshake would often seal a deal that was made too.
Today go ahead and give someone a nice strong handshake. Or an elbow bump for ankle bump as some have started doing. I really don’t think they will truly replace the handshake as a way of greeting.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Handshakes and hugs will always trump likes and shares.

Handshakes are one of the many things we tend to take for granted, but now that we can’t use them, they are appreciated. There is nothing very elegant about an elbow bump. But we must keep self distancing for our safety and that of others. More and more I’ve come to notice those little things we cannot do anymore. Here at my house we’d often greet or say goodbye to someone with a hug. And I do miss the hugs.
This week I became the proud owner of a newer car. My niece was selling her car because she got a new one and it turns out I bought their old one. What is one persons trash is another treasure. I gave her a name. She’s called Sparkle zoom zoom. The zoom zoom came from her previous owners, I just added sparkle as she’s silver and very shiny so she tends to sparkle. We spent a good part of two days getting every thing transferred over. The final part being transferring the license plates yesterday. I wanted to give my nephew a big old hug for helping out with that but the best I could manage was a thank you.
I’ve needed a newer car for quite a while as the little red hen was getting quite old and seemed to have something constantly going wrong with her, Now I have a much more reliable ride.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!

ADVICE FOR TODAY
In the old days all you needed was a handshake. Nowadays you need forty lawyers.

Although she is not a brand new car, she is newer than what I had and more reliable too.
Congratulations on having adopted Sparkle zoom-zoom! Good looking!
I sure agree about reliability. I'm a bit obsessive about keeping my '05 Camry in good shape because I don't even want to imagine being stranded on the side of the road.
I do miss being able to get -- and give -- a firm handshake. Just yesterday at the doctor's office I nearly forgot and almost held out my hand. Oops!
The new car looks great Ma! I like the name too! Glad it worked out like it did. I wonder what the new handshake will be down the road. Maybe we will literally shake our hands at each other.
