ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, JUNE 27TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Sunglasses Day which a day to protect you eyes from the glaring sun and to celebrate this practical invention- sun glassare are a form of protective eyewear designed to primarily prevent bright sunlight and high visible light from damaging or discomforting the eyes. They can sometimes also function as a visual aid, as variously termed spectacles or glasses exist, featuring lenses that are colorlored, polarized or darkened.
On the eve of WWII, a little company called Ray Ban began producing sunglasses for pilots. Aviatotors became the first commercially successful sunglasses.
Healthcare professionals recommend eye protection whenever the sun comes out to protect the eyes from ultraviolet radiations. UV and blue light which can cause several eye problems. Sunglasses have a long been associated with celebrities and film actors primarily from a desire to mask their identity. Since the 1940’s sunglasses have been popular as a fashion accessory, especially on the beach.
To celebrate today , pick up a new pair of shades at your local sunglasses store.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Always have sunglasses with you. They are great for when you can’t be bothered to put make up on.
Allison Goldfrapp
These days the sun really affects my eyes. There are times when I’m driving that the sun will almost blind me so I definitely need to wear sunglasses. The ones I have fit right over my regular glasses and really make a difference. There are also times I wear a hat with a brim along with the glasses to protect my eyes and provide some shade. I have two pairs. One I like to leave in the car and the other in the house for when I go outside to do the yard work.
They say we won’t need any sunglasses today as it’s supposed to rain. Another day to stay inside and get the housework done. It’s als my day to cook for the weekend. I decided to make meatloaf as cold meatloaf makes for a wonderful sandwich. This is not my regular meatloaf recipe.
Summertime meatloaf
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 c. shredded carrots
1 c. chopped green pepper
2 eggs slightly beaten
1 1/2 c. soft breadcrumbs
1 c. cottage cheese, drained
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp poultry seasoning
2 lbs ground beef
3/4 c. catsup
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. dry mustard.
in a small saucepan cook onion, carrots and green pepper in a small amount of boiling water until tender. Drain.
Combine with eggs bread crumbs cottage cheese and poultry seasoning. Add beef and mix well.
Pat unto a 9 by 5 laaf pan. Bake uncovered in a 350 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours. Pour off excess liquid.
In a saucepan combine catsup, mustard and brown sugar. Heat through Serve meatloaf with catsup topping.
I have never made this recipe before but the addition of vegetables, makes it sound like a meal in one. We’ll see how it turns out.
Thankfully I have plenty of pictures of the babes in sunglasses. Good to see they are protecting their eyes.
Have a Super Saturday!

Our eyes are so important. It's important to protect them.
Ummmmy sounding meatloaf! I use cheese in mine, as well -- but hadn't considered cottage cheese, or even carrots. It's been a long time, but used to really enjoy eating cold meatloaf sandwiches with lots of mayo.
Good reminder about sunglasses. Wish I'd started wearing them years ago -- particularly while in Arizona. The last few days our skies are all 'milky gray' on account a combination of rain and all that Saharan dust. Last night our meteorologist remarked, "What's next, locusts?"
Interesting recipe for the meatloaf with the veggies in it. Sounds yummy and you are right, Ma. Cold meatloaf sandwiches are the best!!
My glasses have that tint in it that when I'm outside they turn into sunglasses. A definite thing needed in the hot Arizona summers!
