ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, JUNE 13TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Sewing Machine Day. Thomas Saint patented the first sewing machine in 1790. Since then sewing machines have become one of the iconic symbols of the industrial revolution representing the transition from traditional handmade goods to automated production.
For many decades the sewing machine was a standard household appliance, but is no longer consider a domestic necessity . The hey day of the sewing machine has come ond gone, but we can still recognize its significancse in our history. Without this important invention, the process of making clothing and any sewn items would be tedious . Each item would have to be sewn by hand, stitch by stitch
To celebrate dig out your sewing machine and start a new project or sign up for a sewing course.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The Sewing Machine Charm
To a Life Bound by Family, The thread that Ties Us All Together.

I’ve not done much sewing for quite awhile and I should at least open the machine up and dust it off and give it a good oiling. It’s old, I got it shortly after I got married. Over 50 years ago. At the time polyester knit was just becoming popular and they were offering a course on how to sew with it. I took the course and had fun making the babes some clothing. You have to stretch it a little as your sewing so it turns out all right. I use it more for repairs these days than anything else. It beats hand mending.
My maternal grandmother taught me how to sew on her old Singer treadle sewing machine. A treadle was pushed back and forth with your foot to power the machine instead of electricity. She was a strict taskmaster, and I did have stitches that had to be pulled out now and then, but that was part of the learning.
This week seemed to go by really fast and here it is Saturdy again and time for me to cook for the weekend.
Chicken, Mixed Vegetables and Pasta Casserole
1 lb ground chicken or turkey
2 c. frozen mixed vegetable
1 can 15 oz. Italian style tomato sauce
1 1/2 c. cooked small pasta shells
3/4 tsp. garlic salt
1 /4 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. shredded Pamesan cheese
Heat oven to 400 degrees Cook chicken in a 10 inch skillet over medium heat. 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until no longer pink. drain
Spoon chicken into uncreased 2 quart casserole. Stir in vegetables, tomato sauce, pasta an garlic salt and pepper.
Cover and bake about 30 minutes until vegetables are tender. Stir and sprinkle with cheese. Makes 4 servings.
I didn’t have ground chicken so I cut up some chicken breasts into 1 inch cubes. Making do with what I have.
I don’t have any pictures of my sewing machine to share today but I do have some of the new house that was moved in next door to me so that is what I’m sharing today. However, blogger is not letting me add phots today) Our little community is growing. When I went for a walk yesterday I noticed there were 3 more new homes, further down the street too.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
PRAYER REqUEST
Please join me in praying for my brother in law today as he as been hospitalized after falling outside yesterday. He has been unresponsive since then and they are doing tests to see what happened. Right now they don’t know what happened. May the dear Lord bless him with healing and may the doctors get some answers from the tests so they can do what they can to care for hm. Of course since we are still experiencing Covoid 19, no one can be in the hospital to visit and its very hard on the family to not able to be with him at this difficult time.

I will appreciate any prayers for my BIl today. It's not looking good at all right now, but we know that God's go this!
Oh my gosh, Ma! I'm praying for your BIL right now. Not knowing what caused his fall is trying; but worse, your sis not being able to be there for him is incomprehensible.
Despite my mother's best efforts -- plus having had two years of Home Economics -- I never learned to sew. Since the cost of beef is skyrocketing down here, I'm clipping this recipe. Good thing we both love chicken.
Praying for your brother in law and family.
Haven't sewn in years but enjoyed making clothes years ago. A fun hobby!

I posted the prayer on my FB site and rec'd a massive response.
I used to sew on quilts until about 2 years ago when my hands got angry at me.
