ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 19TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is World Saimtering Day which reminds us to take it easy, smell the roses, look at the sky, slow down and enjoy life as opposed to rushing through it . Go ahead, and take some time with your self, some me time. The holiday is also known as International Sauntering Day. as it is celebrated around the world. The day was invented by W.T. Rabe in 1979; it was a response to jogging ;which became a kind of hype back then. The day is said to be first celebrated at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan. The verb sauntering describes a slowly type of walking, during which you are able to enjoy the world around you.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Your only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.
Walter Hagen
I love life in the slow lane because when you go slowly, you have plenty of time to see everything around you. I don’t do anything fast any more. My body only has one speed and that is slow. It also means I need to give my self plenty of time to get things done and I have to plan accordingly. Every thing takes more time to do than it used to.
Today I’ll be sauntering around the yard mowing the grass. It’s like walking in slow motion. And it takes me most of the day to get it all done, what with taking several breaks in between.
It’s ok because I really don’t have much of anything else to do and after my busy day yesterday, I’m moving slower than usual. One thing I don’t need to do is cook, I have plenty of leftovers to eat. I got a chicken club sandwich for lunch and still have half of it to eat and DS#5 and his wife had brought Veggie Squares for the party and I brought home a plate of them to enjoy today. They are very good leftover. I also got a good recipe from DSIL’s sister and I’ll share that with you today. She had made cheese cake for the party and it was easy peasy. You take softened cream cheese and mix with a half cup of sugar and then blend together with a container of cool whip and put it all in an already prepared graham cracker crust and top with whatever kind of pie filling your prefer. She did blueberry and it was delicious.. And will be my new favorite summertime dessert. Everything we had to eat a DD’s party was delicious and the rain held off too. It was a beautiful evening and we sat out on their deck and had a wonderful time. Todays pictures are of DD’s birthday.
I hope you all have a FANTASITIC Friday!

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Slow down and enjoy life!
I've few memories of Mackinac Island, but recall there being no motorized traffic. So ya, sauntering about that beautiful old hotel makes me smile. 'Thinking of that sweet old movie filmed there, Somewhere in Time.
I don't know whether I'm more drawn to those yummy-looking sandwiches or your DD's pretty pergola. :) That's a great-sounding cheesecake recipe. That's my favorite dessert of all time! So glad you enjoyed a super time with your loved ones, Ma!

Saimtering, never heard it spelled this way but rather sauntering as you spelled it later, either way, I am all for it.
