ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH,2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Homemade Bread Day, which encourages us to appreciate and enjoy fresh homemade bread. Nothing beats the aroma of freshly baked bread wafting through the air. For hundreds of years baking fresh bread was part of the daily routine for most families. Some even made their own yeast.
Today, homemade bread making has been simplified by the invention of the bread maker machines. This appliance was first released in Japan in 1986. Since then its popularity has spread worldwide. Some bread machines can also be set to make other things such as pasta dough.
Today find a recipe for your favorite bread and try your hand at some old fashioned homemade bread making.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
God gives us the ingredients for our daily bread, but he expects us to do the baking
Chip Ingram
The kind of bread I usually make is called quick bread. It doesn’t require any kneading, or waiting for the dough to rise. One of my favorites is banana bread. But since it’s close to Thanksgiving, I thought it would be fun to make some Pumpkin bread.
The Best Pumpkin Bread
Yield 2 loaves
Butter for the pans
3 1/2 c. flour plus more for the pan
3 c. sugar
1 c. vegetable oil
4 eggs, lightly beaten
1 15 oz can pure pumpkin puree
2 tsp.salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp allspice
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
2/3 c. water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour two 9 by 5 inch loaf pans.
Whisk together the sugar and oil in a bowl until well combined. Whisk in eggs and pumpkin until combined.
Combine the flour salt, baking soda, nutmeg, all spice, cinnamon and cloves in a bowl and which until well combined. Add half the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture and stir to combine. Add water and stir to combine. Repeat with remaining flour and water.
Divide the batter between the prepared loaf pans. Bake until cake tester comes out clean and the loaves are golden brown, about 1 hour. Let the loaves cool in the pans on a wire rack for 20 minutes . Remove from pans and let cool completely about 1 hour. Cut in slices and serve.
This is going make a nice treat to have with my Sunday morning coffee. I baked yesterday, so today I’ll just relax and enjoy. I also made up a cream cheese spread to put on it.
Cinnamon Cream Cheese Spread
4 oz. Cream cheese, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. powdered sugar.
Mmmm good!
Sunday is my day of rest and relax. I’ll be off to church as always today and it’s looking to be a bit warmer. All of the snow has melted, now I’m hoping the leaves will dry out enough to get outside and mulch them up tomorrow. There is more snow in the long-range forecast later in the week.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!

Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Remember, man does not live on bread alone, sometimes he needs a little buttering up.

There truly is nothing like the smell of homemade bread ...
Both that bread and the spread for it look delicious! I do love bread but its been years since I had homemade bread. My mom and sister used to bake it around the holidays. When we lived in Montana there was a bread store and when you went in, you could get a free sample of any of the breads they made. That was always a treat!

That first turkey statuette is adorable!
Yummy on the pumpkin bread and cinnamon spread! Even tho' I'm no longer working there, I've been invited for the staff's Thanksgiving luncheon on Thursday … and have been wondering what to bring. You just solved it for me!
