ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND,2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Deviled Egg Day, which is a tradition favorite in both American and French cultures. Deviled eggs are made with hard boiled eggs, mayonnaise. mustard and seasoning and can be served as a side dish, appetizer, or main course.
While deviled eggs originated in ancient Rome, the term deviled didn’t appear un this the 18th century when it was used to describe highly seasoned, fried, or boiled dishes. By the 19th century the word deviled was used to describe hot seasonings in general. Today, not all deviled egg recipes are spicy, but a little cayenne pepper or hot mustard and give them an extra kick.
To celebrate, make your favorite family recipe today!
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
An egg is always an adventure; the next one may be different.
Oscar Wilde
I happen to have pictures of deviled eggs today as I took some to our Hallo’wind’ party the other night. Every one likes them and they are not the hot variety at all, but sprinkled with paprika for garnish.
My container holds 20 so I boil 10 eggs and cool and peel them. Cut them in half and mix the yolks with mayonnaise, mustard, and salt and pepper. then put the mixture in the hollow egg white. And I always sprinkle with paprika for a festive look. They are best served cold.
It’s Saturday and it’s chili out so I’ll be cooking up some soup for the weekend.
Crockpot Creamy Potato Soup
Makes 6 servings
6 slices bacon, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 onion, finely chopped
2 10.5 oz. cans chicken broth
2 c. water
5 potatoes, diced
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 sp dried dill weed
1/2 tsp white pepper
1/2 c flour
2 c. half and half cream
1 12oz. can evaporated milk
Place bacon and onion in a deep skillet. Cook over medium high until evenly brown and onions are softened. Drain off grease. Transfer to slow cooker and stir in chicken broth, water, potatoes, salt, dill weed and white pepper. Cover and cook on low 6 to 7 house. Stirring occasionally.
In small bowl whisk the flour and half and half. Stir into soup along with evaporated milk. Cover and cook another 30 minutes before serving.
Our weather remains cold here so soup will be on the menu often. Nothing better to warm you up. Todays pictures include a few more from Halloween .
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The present was an egg laid by the past that had the future inside it’s shell
Zora Neale Hurston
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7561. for eggs good and good for you
7562. for a nice tray to carry them in
7563. for plenty of food to share
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Remember, People will judge you by your actions not your intentions. You may have a heart of gold but so does a hard boiled egg.
Maya Angelou
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Yum! Eggs are always an adventure!
I’m on a roll using your recipes! Thursday I made your Hungarian Goulash but I used Spanish paprika instead of Hungarian! Plus I added some red wine. I served it for a special lunch here for a few special friends and everyone loved it! I took the leftovers to Fort Worth yesterday and served the lunch all over again for Lillian at my sister’s home.
Sooooooo.....I just took a screen shot of the potato soup recipe and I’m making that and the deviled eggs today! This is a fun way to try new recipes! Thank you for sharing them!
Look at those carved pumpkins. So cute! Yummy on the deviled eggs; haven't made any in a little bit but might soon. Also yummy on the potato soup. Something good for a winter day's meal.

What a super job your son did, decorating their home! Those 'spider webs' sure look realistic!
I adore deviled eggs but have never tried making them … probably on account my h.b. eggs come out looking pathetic. One of our favorite lunch spots offers them as a side - vs. traditional fries or chips. I wish more places would do that!
