ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
All food starting with p is comfort food: pasta, potato chips, pretzels, peanut butter, pastrami, pizza, pastry.
Sara Peretsky
I do love pasta and right now I happen to have linguini on hand so I looked for something new to try and this is what I found
One Pot Sausage Linguine
Makes 8 servings
3 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil, plus more as needed
1 cup onion diced
1 tbsp. garlic, minced
1 pound bulk sweet Italian sausage
1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
16 oz. linguine
1/3 c. fresh basic chopped
1/3 c. fresh Italian parsley, chopped
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
In large heavy bottom popover medium high heat, add oil and onions. Cook about 4 minutes then add garlic and sausage. Cook an addition 5 to 7 minutes or until meat is browns, stirring constantly.
Add tomatoes and fill can with water and add to pot. Bring to light simmer then break pasta adding to pot. Cook 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, then add parsley and basic. Cook an addition 2 minutes or until pasta is cooked and sauce thickens.
Season to taste with salt and pepper and garnish with cheese.
Note: I rarely have fresh herbs on hand so used dried basil and parsley and it worked just fine. Because dried herbs are generally more potent and concentrated than fresh herbs, you’ll need less. For example of a recipe called for 1 tbsp. fresh, you need only 1 tsp. dried. Use one third the amount of dried herbs when replacing for fresh.
Holiday tip for the day: for a frugal gift solutions: think consumable.
A consumable gift is something than can be eaten, sent, read or enjoyed by the recipient. You could bundle a few cookie cutters, a rolling pin and a box of sugar cookie mix. Or you might give tickets or gift certificates. For men you could give a basket of car wax, windshield treatment and tire cleaner. For the women you could give a supply of note cards, greeting cards and stamps. These are all consumables and can be used up. This idea is a good one for Christmas, birthdays or any time a gift is needed.
Even though we had a deceivingly sunny day yesterday, it was chilly and not warm. Today they say it will be cooler and we have a chance of rain. It’s my day to get out and about to do errands and grocery shopping, so I’m hoping I won’t get wet, and will be dressed for the weather one way or another.
Having no pasta pictures to share today, I found more pumpkin pictures to share from a few years ago. I couldn’t resist.
I hope you all have WONDERFUL Wedneday!

Try to remember that pasta itself isn't fattening, it's all in portion control...
Pasta may not be all that fattening in itself, but it's high in carbs. My hubby and I both love it, but we eat it sparingly because of his diabetes. (He doesn't know HOW to take a small portion when it comes to pasta!)
Such cute pictures of pumpkins and your grandchildren, Ma! I always say I haven't met a pasta, potato, or bread that I didn't like. Unfortunately, like Susan said in her comment, they are all high in carbs so these days I'm avoiding lots of it. Its amazing how much I think a serving is and what the actual amount of serving is.
betty
My husband and two daughters love pasta.... me, not so much. And it's a good thing too cos pasta is deadly to diabetics. I don't like pasta & I don't particularly like sweets so God picked a good person to give diabetes to. *haha* But lots of people love it, that's for sure. I have two of those folks right under my own roof. Have a wonderful day, Andrea xoxo
My hubby would adore this recipe! They're just 99-cent box dinners, but 2-3 times each week he'll prepare one of those (pasta) as a side dish. I know so little about fresh herbs; thank you for breaking down the quantities between those and dried.
When ones recipients are no longer 'littles' I think the idea of gifting 'consumables' is terrific!
Adorable pumpkin pictures.
