ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Cookies are made of of butter and love.
Norwegian Proverb
I like cookies and it’s hard for me to pick a favorite. They come in so many delicious varieties. But since October begins what I like to call Pumpkin Season, I found a great pumpkin cookie to enjoy.
Pumpkin Spice Cookies
Makes 30 cookies
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp cloves
3/4 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. canned pumpkin
For the cinnamon and sugar coating
1/4 sugar
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Whisk together the flour, cornstarch, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves.. In a separate bowl beat together the butter and sugars until fluffy then beat in egg, vanilla and pumpkin.
Slowly add mix to flour mixture. The dough will e very sticky. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least two hours.
When ready to bake, take dough out of refrigerator and preheat oven to 350 degrees and line two cookie trays with parchment paper. Whisk the sugar and cinnamon together for coating.
Form the dough into balls, then roll in coating and flatten slightly on cookie sheets. Place cookies about 2 inches apart. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until tops look just set.
Remove from oven, cool and enjoy!
Today’s holiday tip: Think about the holidays. October has arrived and the seasons pace quickens. All the sudden we wonder where the time went. Arrange all those little appointments that slip the mind so easily. Hair cuts, furnace maintenance, carpet cleaning are just a few of many. Review the months ahead and schedule the needed services.
We have a cloudy day ahead with a slight chance of rain but on the bright side we will remain in the mid 70’s. The pictures today are of my little Precious One on a trip to a pumpkin patch last October.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!

Have a Happy October !
The holidays will soon be upon us! I was surprised that I didn't see any Christmas things at Wal-Mart this past weekend. We are having some rain from the storm Rosa so that's making October's start a bit cooler here :)
betty
I just cannot believe it is already October. And I love cookies. But if I bake them I will eat them and I sure don't need to do that! It is cooler here today too. But in the higher 70's! Let's hope for a great week!
Is there anything cuter than a child in a pumpkin patch? One of my favorite photos, seems like yesterday -- my little granddaughter with a pumpkin practically as big as she … today she's a married woman.
Thanks for the reminder! I need to call and schedule both a carpet cleaner and HVAC check-up.
