ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Fire Prevention Day which commemorates the Great Chicago Fire. The Great Chicago Fire burned form October 8th to October 10th, 1871, killing hundreds and destroying over 17,000 structures in Chicago, Illinois.
According to legend, Mrs. O’Leary was in her barn, milking her cow. The cow kicked over a lamp which start the fire. The fire started major efforts in fire prevention and in 1911 the Fire Marshall's of North America sponsored the first Fire Prevention Day as a way to keep the public informed about the importance of fire prevention.
In 1920, President Woodrow Willson proclaimed Fire Prevention Week. The Saturday during Fire Prevention Week is Fire Service Recognition Day.
Remember EDITH, which stands for Exit Drills In The Home. Today is a good day to have a practice drill.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Firefighters save hearts and homes.

Thankfully, I’ve never been in fire, but I have seen the damage they can do. They are devastating. Many homes and businesses have been wiped out by fires and it is important to know what to do. I remember the fire department coming to schools and how we all practiced a fire drill. It’s not a bad idea to practice at home too. The first picture is of one of my grandson’s and though it was taken a few years ago, he’s still one of the cutest little firemen around.
We contine to be in the 80’s here but they say that after tomorrow, we’ll be seeing a big cool down with temps in the 60’s which is what we’d normally be having this time of year. I think I’ll be waiting until Thursday to get outside and do the yard work when it will be cooler. All this rain and warm weather has made the grass grow.
Today’s holiday tip: Cut holiday stress and remember decorating less can be more. To save time and work, simplify decorating by focusing on the Rule of Three. Front Door, Living Area Focal Point and the Christmas tree.
So long as you have a wreath on the door, decorations on the mantle, or table top and a tree, you have got the holiday decorating basics for a simpler, stress free holiday season
The advice above is Christmas related but I think the rule could easily apply to any holiday. Having a smaller house now means that I do way less decorating for any holiday than I used to and at this point in my life that is a good thing.
My motto: Keep It Simple, Make it Fun
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
You have to do something in your life that is honorable and not cowardly if you are to live in peace with yourself, and for the firefighter it is fire.

When you keep things simple it can be a lot more fun!
I like your motto of keeping it simple, make more fun. Thinking of what I'll put up this year for Christmas, but it definitely will be simple :)
It is always good to have a plan to exit the house during a fire and a meeting place for all members of the family to get to. So grateful too that I haven't experienced the devastating effects of a fire.

I remember our Brownie troop touring the fire station. That pole … I was enthralled! Thank goodness, I was never personally affected by fire, but my DIL's family lost everything when she was a child; I think what's most poignant is her lack of photos.
Our home is also on the small side, but I'm thankful for the large, close-to-the-ground windows in each bedroom.
Now that's the sweetest lil fireman I've ever seen!! Absolutely precious, MA! Love, Andrea xoxo
