ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is National Boston Cream Pie Day which celebrates a pie that is actually a cake. It consists of two round layers of sponge cake with a thick vanilla custard filling. It is frosted with a chocolate glaze but can also be topped with confectionary sugar. The dessert is served wedges just like a pie.
Enjoy a big slice today to celebrate the day !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Stressed spelled backwards is desserts. Coincidence? I think not.

Boston cream pies are a delicious dessert and we don’t need to be from Boston to enjoy them. Although I don’t have a specific recipe to share, they are easy to make. I make a yellow cake mix, following the instructions on the package, and bake in two cake tins. Let them cool and then put a filling of vanilla pudding in between the two layers and frost the top with chocolate frosting and refrigerate till chilled through. It’s not the official way to make it, but it does make a delicious dessert.
Today’s holiday tip: Focus on your values.
My focus for any holiday celebration is all about my faith, family and friends. It’s easy to get caught up in the seasonal whirlwind, but when it comes down to it, those are the things that truly matter. Knowing where your values lie allows you to have happier holidays.
This week looks to be somewhat drier than what we’ve been having with little or no rain in the forecast. We’re to be in the low 50’s and mid 40’s here. After a busy Monday, I’m taking some time out. like I usually do on Tuesdays, to plan what I need to get done and to check the weekly grocery ads to see what might be on sale that I need. I have a choice of several different grocery stores nearby and usually shop where I’ll get the most for my money.
I hope to get everything outside stored away for the winter too. The chair cushions need to be washed and put away and patio table and chairs will be covered up for the season. The flower pots need to be emptied too and the outside water hose has to be drained and disconnected. Busy, busy days !
I’ve no cake/pie pictures to share today but thought I’d share a few of fall in northern Ohio that were taken this time last year. We had the unexpected blessing of a antique car parade going by.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday

I'm so thankful for these October days. The in between season after summer and before winter.
I don't think I have ever had Boston cream pie. It does sound easy to make though. So true about focusing on our values around the holidays. It can be so overwhelming if we don't with all the advertising going on, attractive displays at stores that might make you want to spend more money, etc.
betty
We've still got all the outside work staring us in the face yet. Ugggghhhhh!!!! And I could use a nice big slice of something right about now. I've never eaten Boston Crème Pie in my life but I wouldn't mind starting. :-D Lovingly~ Andrea xoxo
I'd no idea that BCP wasn't actually a pie! Today's may be my favorite of your holiday tips! Advertisers have become so wily, haven't they? I'm certainly no immune; good thing my budget no longer allows for 'emotional' purchases.
Oh, I so adore Boston Cream Pie Pam and Washington Pie also! I have not baked either one in a very long time! I think I will this weekend, one or the Other! You are a bad influence on me, lol (in a very good way!) you sure are busy getting everything tickety boo for Winter! Love antique raw rallies! Those old cars are amazing! Thanks so much for all you share with us Pam! You are such a joy! Xoxo
