ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

It’s National Chocolate Cupcake Day which are a delightful treat served at gourmet bakeries and kitchen tables across the country.
Cupcakes first emerged during the 19th century in the US. One theory is that mini cakes were originally baked in cups and another suggests that the name comes for the recipe, which was measured out by the cup - one cup of butter, two cups of sugar, three cups of flour, four eggs, one cup milk, one teaspoon baking soda.
Cupcakes are now made with a variety of flavors and decorations, but simple chocolate cupcakes remain the favorite.
Today celebrate by making or buying a chocolate cupcake !
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
When you look at a cupcake, you’ve got to smile.
Anne Byrn
Chocolate cup cakes most always hit the spot, but I do know a few that prefer vanilla. The best cupcakes I ever had were on a trip to visit two of my sons and their families a couple of years ago. I’d never had any gourmet style cupcakes before so they were really a treat and that is what today’s pictures are of.
Yesterday was mostly sunny and today is supposed to be much the same. For the first time this year I heard the ’S’ word in the forecast for the weekend. There is a chance of flurries they say. I’m hoping not. The trees are still full of leaves after all, but we have had night time temps close to freezing.
Today I’m going for a haircut. It doesn’t seem possible that it’s been a month since I had my last one. I’m wearing my hair shorter now and I can really tell the difference.
I hope you all have GREAT day. Happy Thursday!

Love is all you need, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.
Those cupcakes look so delicious! I bet they tasted even better than they looked! I like the white ones with vanilla frosting. The minis are really good too for a "fix" of sugar without a lot of calories :) Too early for the "s" word so I hope too it doesn't happen this weekend!
betty
I'm so surprised in the "turn" that cupcakes have taken in the last 10 years (or has it been longer?). Cupcakes, back in my day, were things that our mothers baked for us to take to school on our birthday. They'd be frosted a little & that was that. But today cupcakes are sold in bakeries and are soooo elaborate. They're even served at weddings, for heaven's sake! Have a good haircut today! I long for *really* short hair, like I used to have in my 20s. It's long now but I see short hair in my very near future. I've heard the "s" word tossed around for us too, this weekend. The grandgirls are coming tomorrow afternoon (1/2 day at school for them) to go to the pumpkin patch. It was either going tomorrow afternoon, to pick out pumpkins, or early Saturday morning. I think we'll go tomorrow afternoon just to be safe. Have a good rest of the day, MA. Lovingly, Andrea xoxo
Andrea's first few lines (above) certainly nailed my own recollections!
When Tom was diagnosed with lung cancer 5 years ago (and we were down in the dumps) my son stepped up. He sent a generous check, together with a caveat: For every hurdle completed, Tom was to go out and buy a pretty cupcake ….. stick a candle in the center and make a wish. (Forgive me if I'm repeating myself?) We went through plenty of sugar, but I think that simple act did much for his morale.
Cupcakes were destined to be for the classroom b-day parties. A cake is so much trouble for the teacher.
I love vanilla cupcakes the best for some reason. It has so many options to make it beautiful, like strawberry cream cheese or raspberry filling. Hmmmmm.
Your scripture and prayers speak to my heart.
