ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Sweetest Day which celebrates all things sweet and serves as a reminder that a thoughtful deed makes life a whole lot sweeter.
Sweetest Day originated in Cleveland Ohio in 1921 when a group of confectioners decided to spread joy and cheer to those often forgotten during the holidays. They distributed over 20,000 boxes of any to newsboys, orphans, hospital patients, the elderly and the poor across the city.
Although Sweetest Day is most popular in the Great Lakes region, the holiday is gaining recognition nationwide.
To celebrate the sweetness, you could share a meal with a loved one, or give a gift of candy or flowers, and remember to do a good deed for someone in need.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Grab your coat and get your hat. Leave your worries on the door step. Life can be so sweet. On the sunny side of the street.
Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields
Today I’m celebrating all the sweeties in my life - my family and friends. And that is what today’s pictures are of…a few but certainly not all of my sweeties. I’m so thankful for all the people in life. Even though I may live alone, I really never feel alone. They are the sweet people that make my life a whole lot better and I’m so thankful for them.
I didn’t send out flowers, candy or cards, but most read this newsletter, so it will have to suffice. I wish you all a day of happiness and as much sweetness as a day could possible hold.
The weekend has arrived and today is my day to cook or bake something to tide me through the weekend. I’ll probably make something sweet to eat too.
I got my first sweet potatoes of the season at the market the other day and so I looked for a new recipe to try out. You can make this recipe with out pealing the sweet potatoes or the apples. Peel or don’t peal, its up to you.
Apple Sweet Potato Bake
Makes 6 servings
5 c. sweet potatoes, thinly sliced
2 c. apples, thinly sliced
1/4 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. pancake syrup
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. apple juice or cider
1/4 c. walnuts, chopped
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, toss the sweet potatoes, apple slices, and brown sugar together. Spoon into a 9 by 9 baking dish
In a small bowl, blend syrup with cinnamon. Stir in apple juice. Pour over sweet potato mixture. Sprinkle walnuts over top.
Cover baking dish with lid or foil and bake 40 minutes. Remove lid and bake about 15 minutes longer or until apples and sweet potatoes ore cooked through.
I also got a bag of apples that looked good. They are new variety that I’d never seen or tried before, but they are very good. They were called Snap Dragon Apples. I had some slices with caramel dip for lunch yesterday. They were very juicy and crispy.
It’s always good to have something new to try out.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
