ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

It’s National Nut Day which celebrates one of the healthiest, most nutritious and delicious snacks we can eat. Studies have shown that eating nuts reduces hypertension and risks associated with heart disease. Nuts are full of protein, fiber and unsaturated fat.
Celebrate this holiday by eating lots of nuts! They are good and good for you too. Let’s go nuts for nuts!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Sometimes you feel like a nut, Sometimes you don’t.
Old Advertising Jingle
There is hardly a week goes by but that I don’t have some kind of nuts to eat. I bake with them, cook with them and eat them as snacks. Pecans and walnuts are my favorites, but I like a lot of others too. There are so many varieties to choose from.
Here’s a great fall salad recipe with apples and nuts that only takes minutes to prepare.
Apple Walnut Salad
Makes 7 serving
2 apples, diced
juice of 1/2 lemon
2 stalks celery, diced
1/2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts
1/3 cup golden raisins
1/4 c. mayonaise
1/4 c. sour cream
salt and pepper to taste
Toss apples with lemon juice. Add celery, walnuts, and raisins and mix well. Combine the mayo and sour cream in another bowl and fold into the apple mixture. Season to taste.
Makes 4 servings.
Todays’s pictures are of a Good Year blimp we sighted on the way home yesterday. I hadn’t seen one in a long time. It truly was an unexpected blessing ! They are amazing. People were going a little nuts trying to look at it and take pictures as we went down the road. So I thought they fit the theme for today.
Today’s holiday tip: Check out the magazines.
These days holiday magazines are popping everywhere you go. When I went to get my hair cut last week they had a rack full of all the popular ones, so while I waited, I made sure to check them out. Magazines are wonderful source of ideas and inspiration. All the ones I read were full of great recipes. I no longer have subscriptions to any, but I used to like to cut and clip my favorites and keep them in a file for future reference. Then get rid of the magazine. That way you don’t wind up with stacks needlessly taking up valuable space.
It’s the begining of another new week and my focus this week is going to be in my bedroom. Cleaning and decluttering. The night stand and the chair seem to fill up faster than I know, and there are things that need to be put away. I didn’t quite get finished with the bathroom last week so I need to put the finishing touches on that too. The mirrors and windows in both rooms need to be done. Room by room, they should all be clean by the time the holidays roll around.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!

I've been a nut at times, but that's ok because I like nuts. Being a little nutty is good!
I love nuts! One of my favorite "healthy' snacks is an energy ball made with dates, quinoa and almonds (plus others). And being a bit of a nut myself, I'm all for celebrating. Thanks MA.
I always like to see blimps up in the sky. They always look a bit majestic up there. Nuts are so flavorful and full of protein!
betty
I’m finishing up the bedroom today and will clean the guest room. After we go vote!
I’m like you - I focus on one room at a time and then just pick up the rest of the house. The only difference is I have a Louis Dean so I’m constantly doing damage control and cleaning up the clean rooms again and again!
We saw a Goodyear blimp last week! First time in a long time!
We have two big pecan trees and in years past have had bumper crops. Alas, this is the third year without a good harvest. I bought a small package of chopped pecans the other day and they are so expensive!!
You have a good start to your week too, MA. I too absolutely adore nuts of any kind... except peanuts, which give me such heartburn I can hardly breathe. I prefer raw cashews the best... although pistacchios are a close second favorite. Lovingly, Andrea xoxo
Happy 64 days to go until Christmas. Wow, already?
Have a recipe for impossible pumpkin pie. It calls for a pecan topping!
OK, I'm smiling. Tom's all the time telling me I'm going to turn into a monkey, on account of all the nuts I eat. A normal evening supper is a bowl of the dry roasted, unsalted. Pistachios and macadamias are favorites, but they're too expensive to eat every day.
Having lived in Goodyear (AZ) the last 15 years we were always seeing blimps parked at the nearby airfield. Even so, they're a thrill that never grows stale. Glad you all were able to spot that big boy!
I love nuts Pam, and they are so good for you. I especially love macadamias, almonds and cashews! But I wouldn’t turn any nut down really and I love to bake with them too. Your salad looks really delicious., like you I was a magazine recipe clipper for many years and still have my clippings! Christmas will be upon us before we know it! Loving your holiday tips! Xoxo
