ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Grouch Day which is a special day for all the grouchy people out there to celebrate. Grouches are typically miserable, grumpy, and irritable. They thrive off of others misfortunes, and only then are they happy.
If you are not a grouch this day gives all the normally chipper people a day an excuse to be grouchy and to complain for once. For those everyday grouches, here a few ways to live a happier life: do a fun or silly activity, allow yourself to do something to benefit others, or enjoy some heathy foods.
Lets face it, the only cute Grouch is is Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street. So exercise your face today and smile!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Make two grins grow where there was only a grouch before.
Elbert Hubbard
We all have days that we are grouchy. Although I usually am a happy and optimistic person, I am not perfect and there are days that I will complain and grumble over what isn’t going my way.
It’s easy to gripe and groan when we have a bad day. The best way I know of to cheer myself up is to count my blessings instead of my woes. Thankfully, I do have a lot to be thankful for. One thing is for sure you cannot be unhappy when you are thinking about all you have and are grateful for it.
For many Monday’s are their grouchiest day of the week. It’s hard to get started and go off to work. Since I no longer work, for me it’s getting back to the regular routine of housework and the daily tasks that must be done. On the bright side of things, we have work to do and the ability to do it, there are those that don’t and can’t.
I wasn’t aware of the fact that eating healthy could make us happier but it does. Research has discovered that eating up to eight servings of fruit and vegetables a day could make us feel happier. They don’t have to be prepared in any special way. However French Fries do not count.
My focus this week is going to be in the bathroom . It’s amazing to me how the cobwebs show up in there overnight. I’m going to give everything a good cleaning. The vanity drawers and linen closet included. It’s time I rotated the towels too. It seems like those at the bottom of the stack somehow never get used.
Holiday tip for today: Clean out the refrigerator. Make room for Thanksgiving.
With holiday cooking just around the corner, now is the time to make space in the refrigerator. Throw out outdated sauces and salad dressings. If you have bottle or jars with an inch or less of food inside, use them up, consolidate them or toss them to free up storage space.
It looks like we are to be in the 50’s here for most of the coming week. Night time lows are in the 40’s and the furnace is on. I got my last electric bill the other day and it was almost half of what I’d paid last month when the air conditioning was constantly running. Now I’ll be seeing a rise in the gas bill with the heat turned on. One just takes place of the other.
I hope you all have GREAT week ahead. Happy Monday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The Lord loveth a cheerful giver. He also accepteth from a grouch.
Catherine Hall
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6430. for grouches, every one has their day
6431. for fruits and vegetables, they make us happier
6432. for work to do
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY

Start the day with a SMILE !
I’m looking forward to a homemaker type of day here as well. It rained all night and the temps fell from the upper 70’s to the 40’s overnight. I hope to finish a quilt I’m making and then start on changing out my closet to fall and winter. I always dread doing this but it must be done. I’m really going to try to discard all the clothes I haven’t worn in a year. That doesn’t sound so hard but it is for me. Why do I hang on to everything??
Happy Monday to you!
Oscar is a very cute Grouch! I think we all do have our moments of being a grouch. I know if I'm hungry I can be more grouchy, so its a good reminder to make sure we are healthy eating!
betty
Grouch Day..... *hahaha*. I can think of quite a few people for whom this day is dedicated. :-D Thankfully I'm not one of them. At least not too often. Love, Andrea xoxoxo
What a welcome surprise from your utility company! 'Found' $ for sure! That's good advice about the sauces and salad dressings. We've not been here long enough to start a 'collection', but man. When we went to move, there was such a lot of waste. Ugh.
Lol about the Grouch day! Some people are grouchy every day. I can be if I am lacking in sleep! My mother’s heating bills are horrendous in the Winter. She has electric heat and the cost is astronomical! I am loving your holiday tips! God bless! Xoxo
