ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today we celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day which honors one of Americas great legends. Johnny Appleseed was a real person. John Chapman was among the American settlers who were captivated by the movement west across the continent. As John Appleseed traveled west, he planted apple trees along the way and sold trees to settlers. With every apple tree that was planted, the legend grew.
He was born on September 26, 1774. His birthday just happens to coincide with the season of the apple harvest. He started out planting trees in western New York and Pennsylvania. During his time the west was places like Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. He was a deeply religious person and was known to preach during his travels. According to the legend, he rarely accepted money and often donated any money received.
Celebrate today with an apple rich menu. Include fresh apples for snacks and some applesauce or apple pie for dessert.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
The goldenrod is yellow,
The corn is turning brown,
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down.

There are many apple orchards in our area and even though I still have a few apples left from the large bag I got at the farm market, I know where I can get more. So far I’ve made applesauce and enjoyed a few sliced and dipped in peanut butter. I found a recipe for an new dip to make and that is shown below.
Honey Cinnamon Peanut Butter Dip.
yield 2 cups
1 15oz container creamy peanut butter
3 tbsp. honey
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
Fold peanut butter, honey and cinnamon together just until blended. Place into a serving bowl. Serve with pretzels, cookies or fresh fruit.
I can’t store any large amounts of apples here, so try to limit the amount I buy. They say that the best way to store apples is in the crisper drawer in the refrigerator. They’ll last one or two months in the fridge. If keeping them in the fridge is not possible, keep them in a cool place but do not let them freeze.
Believe it or not even the apples we store in our basements until March are often fresher than the ones in the grocery store. Any apples with bruising will not store well . It’s also best to wrap each apple in newspaper.
Holiday tip for today: Consider a handmade Christmas. Going handmade does take some doing, you have to start early in order to have gifts ready in good time. Handmade gifts add meaning to the holiday while reducing commercialism and encourages green giving by reducing packaging and clutter.
I’ve been making Christmas gifts for many years now. Most of what I give is hand made with the exception of a few stocking stuffers. With my large family it’s the only way I can afford to give a gift to everyone. There are many cute handmade things that could also be the stocking stuffer part of gift giving too.
It’s looking like we may start the day with rain again, but it’s to clear up later with temps right around 70 degrees.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
When eating a fruit think of the person who planted the tree.
Proverb
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6374. apple slices with dip. Yum!
6375. for apple cider, good warm with a cinnamon stick
6376. for clearing skies, enough with the rain
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
You can’t sow an apple seed and expect to get an avocado tree. The consequences of your life are sown in what you do and how you behave.

A bit of love from someone dear…

They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away! Yes, so far it's working!
I love Johnny Appleseed! I have a book about apples and it is fascinating! If not for Johnny Appleseed we might have lost our Apple seeds. Every Apple was going for cider! Honestly! 🍎 I need to do a post!
I remember learning about Johnny Appleseed in Girl Scouts! My mother was religious about eating an apple every evening. In fact, when she'd come on the bus for a weekend visit, she brought her own apples because she knew I didn't keep fruit in the house. LOL.
That dip sounds yummy! I'm going to try this both with apples and, perhaps, pretzels.
I like dipping apples in peanut butter. I'll have to try this recipe along the way. Apples are one of those great "snacks" in that they are so refreshing and so good for us!

One of my favorite stories from my childhood was about Johnny Appleseed. I love the dip recipe. I will need to try that! I love apples and peanut butter. But I REALLY love them dipped in caramel.
I remember seeing on Walt Disney when I was a child about Johnny Appleseed. I loved the story. I love apples also, and your apple dip looks like just the ticket to enjoy some lovely ones! I often enjoy apple slices spread with peanut butter! They’re lovely. God bless and thanks for all you share! Xoxo
