ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Punch Day which celebrates a popular party drink. There are hundreds of different punch recipes. Typically made by mixing a variety of fruit juices, a punch can be alcoholic or non alcoholic. Punch is served in a large bowl called a punch bowl.
To celebrate this day just make and enjoy your favorite punch!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If more of us valued food and cheer above hoarded gold, it would be a much merrier world.
J.R.R.Tolkien
It’s become a family tradition for us to serve punch at most get togethers and parties. I still have a punch bowl that was given to me as a wedding gift and it’s been used many many times over the years for all kinds of celebrations. The punch we make is called Frothy Slosh and is made by combining cranapple juice and ginger ale. You drop scoops of sherbet on top of the mixture and stir gently. This makes the mixture turn in to a frothy slosh. Ha !
The holidays are coming so maybe this day is a good reminder to get out the bowl and shine it up so it will be ready when needed. There is no partying going on here today but I could still make my own personal size cup of punch, I do have some cranberry juice and ginger ale in the fridge.
And look what I found when I got out the punch bowl! It’s my box of herbal scents for my diffuser. I’ve been looking for this ever since I moved in here over a year ago. It was here all the time right behind my punch bowl!
Holiday Tip for today: Shine up the punch bowl. It’s a good time to locate those dishes like the punch bowl, the mashed potato bowl, or holiday dishes that you use once a year and make sure they are ready.
If we do just a little, whether it is cleaning or decorating, getting our homes ready for the holidays is lots of fun when it’s not left until the last minute.
It’s to be almost 90 degrees here today. Summer is going out with a blast. But Fall comes on Saturday and they say cooler weather is to come our way too.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY

Cheers to another new day ! Enjoy !
That is so neat, Ma, that you still use the punch bowl you got as a wedding gift! Also neat you found what you were looking for behind your punch bowl. One of the holiday memories I have regarding punch is going over to hubby's parents us. His mom would always make a apple cider type drink that she would serve in the punch bowl. You could smell it when you got into the house, always festive.

How I adore the quotes you give us! Food and cheer from Tolkien and cheer everyone else up by Twain. Your blog is the best! I love the punch bowl! Lovely. xx
Yay, for finding the herbal scents! (When you least expect it ….)
That slosh sounds refreshing; I could go for a cup right now! Ya, punch bowls were The Thing back in the 50's and 60's … but I don't recall my parents ever having one.
