ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today we celebrate Checkers Day which is is also known as Dogs in Politics Day and not named for the classic game.
On September 1952, vice presidential candidate Richard Nixon gave a speech to address growing concerns about his use of campaign funds. He assured the public that he had not misused the funs, but that he intended to keep one gift—a little dog that the Nixon children named Checkers. the Checkers speach was a political triumph and the public responded with overwhelming support.
In honor of this day, play a game of checkers!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they giving unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive.
Gilda Radner
Checkers is a fun game to play and it’s a favorite all ages can enjoy. Checkers is a fun name for a dog too and it’s amazing how this date came into being.
When my family was young Sunday’s were always a family day and we played a lot of games and enjoyed just being together. The rest of week was always busy and between work and school, we didn’t always get a lot of time to spend together, especially when the started growing up.
I have lots of fond memories of those days and hope there will still be many more days we can get together. These days it is harder to do and I treasure the times we are able to do so.
Sadly we lost one of our dearly loved grand dogs this week. He was a sweetheart and belonged DS#5 and his family. He will be missed as he was always at the door to greet you when ever we went to their house to visit.
Today’s Holiday Tip: Make a Fall cleaning checklist. Now is the time to plan what you want to do before the holidays come. Maybe the rugs need cleaned or the windows washed. These things are not included in our regular cleaning.
No cleaning will be done here today , but it is ok to make plans. Today I’ll be off to church as usual and after stopping at the store for a Sunday Newspaper, I’ll be relaxing at home. It’s become my favorite place to be these days. We definitely cooled down yesterday but today they say we’ll reach 70 degrees and it will be sunny!
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!

may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.

Wishing you all a very Happy Sunday. Relax, refresh and renew !
Pam, I'm so sorry to learn of your grand-dog's passing. That quote by Gilda Radner sure resounds in all of us who've loved and lost a fur baby. 'Not something easily gotten over for sure.
I hope your Sunday afternoon is wonderfully relaxing!
So sorry about the beloved family pet no longer being there. They add so much to our lives! I always enjoyed a game of checkers when I was younger; a great game to learn strategy with, etc.

So sorry to read of the passing of the Grand Doggie. It always hurts so much when we lose a family member, even the furry ones. (((hugs))) I grew up playing checkers and still love to play it. It is great fun! xoxo
