ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Neither Rain Nor Snow Day which celebrates the opening of the New York Post Office building on this day in 1914. The inscription, Neither snow nor rain not heat nor gloom of night, stays these couriers from he swift completion of the appointed rounds, was inscribed on the building.
This inscription is very close to the old Pony Express riders motto. The Pony Express was not a government funded predecessor to today’s post office. It was a courier and message and delivery service that privately owned and funded.
It is hoped that we can show our appreciation to the postal delivery people today and especially for those who walk their routes that never let rain nor snow stop them.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
What a wonderful thing is the mail, capable of conveying across continents a warm human hand clasp.

I am very thankful for the mailman in our community who I can count on every day for mail. Sometimes the box is empty, but it’s the fact that I would be able to get it, if I had some, that is important.
Our mailman drives a truck to deliver mail, he doesn’t walk, but still the mail gets through. I have a mail box at the end of the driveway and some days I’m just thankful that I have a reason to go outside, even though it’s not for very long. I used to have a mailbox right out the front door, and didn’t need to go out to retrieve it.
Very often these days the mail I get is delivered right to my mail box on my computer. More and more is done on line than ever before. I cannot remember when I actually got a letter in the mail. I have received some cards from folks I know but not a letter.
Yesterday I got my errands and shopping done for the week, so today I’ll be spending some time setting things straight around the house. It’s gotten very little attention at all this week and needs it badly.
The weekend is just around the corner and tomorrow we celebrate a birthday. This is a belated August birthday party, but there will be some September birthdays coming soon. With our large family it seems there is always something to celebrate but many birthdays are long distance ones with a card sent out in the mail. Thankfully this is one card I’ll be giving in person.
I hope you all have a fantastic Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I get mail, therefore I am.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6317. for our mail men and women
6318. for cards to send and to give
6319. for a more normal day at home
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

If you're reading this today, then YOU"VE GOT MAIL. My daily news letter from home. Love and hugs from me to you!
The postal service is certainly reliable in its delivery. Even when you hold your mail when you are gone, they still deliver it on the day you want it to resume. They sure have seen changes over the years of what came by mail with letters, bills, cards, etc. Nowadays all we seem to get are advertisements or what we call junk mail.
Have a great party tomorrow!

What an adorable coffee mug!
Unlike the residential delivery in Arizona, our mail carrier(s) have certainly been reliable … and boy, Mother Nature has certainly had her way with them! When I was a kid, mail-call was a Big Deal; now, we check the box once a week, if that.
That last photo is so cozy! It is my favorite!
Mail!! We only get junk mail these days - mostly. Then I find gems in the mailbox - a note or a letter!!! Who writes letters anymore?? They are precious and I treasure them.
Emails are the new 'mail' and I guess text messages are mail in a way. I suppose communication is the key - in whatever format we find it!
We are in Seattle tonight and will board our cruise ship tomorrow.
I will be limited to 240 minutes of Internet time during the next week so I won't be able to visit much with all my friends. Just wanted you to know why I will be absent for several days.
