ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Good Neighbor Day which is definitely a good thing. Being good neighbors is an important part of the social fiber that makes this country so great.
In 2003, the US Senate passed a resolution making September 28, National Good Neighbor Day. Previously, this day was celebrated on the fourth Sunday of September.
The purpose of this day is to recognize and appreciate your good neighbors. Hopefully, one of those good neighbors is you!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Borrow trouble for yourself, if that’s your nature; but don’t lend it to your neighbors.
Rudyard Kipling
The pictures above are of my driveway. There are 3 of us that share the same drive. We are close by. I have great neighbors but I don’t see much of them. They all very friendly, but tend to keep to themselves. The community I live in is one of the quietest places I’ve ever lived in. In someways it’s like a retirement community, but there are also families with young children. We have a community pool and also a community center where we have opportunities to attend exercise classes, yoga and even bingo games. They also have seasonal get togethers several times a year. I’ve yet to participate in any of it, but it’s there if I’d like to. All in all it’s a great neighborhood to live in.
Todays holiday tip: Shop early for frugal stocking stuffers. Stocking stuffers are a favorite in many families, but if we wait until December we’ll pay full price. Now is the time collect gifts on sale suitable for stocking stuffers.
Our family traditions include hanging up our Christmas stockings to be filled with all sorts of goodies. Things like candy, chapstick, hand sanitizer, and lotions are just a few of what I’ve found in mine.
It’s to be a sunny day here with temps in the low 70’s and it’s going to be a great day to get outside, for me that means getting the yard work done. I don’t mind doing it at all as it gives me some needed exercise and an excuse to be outside. Fresh air and sunshine are always a good thing.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
And good neighbors make a huge difference in the quality of life. I agree.
Robert Fulghum
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6380. for a sunny day to get outside
6381. for great neighbors
6382. for time to prepare for the holidays, for me preparation is always half the fun
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

To have a good neighbor, we have to be a good neighbor!
Just so you know, YOU are a good neighbor to everyone who reads your blog. Your sunny disposition, optimistic outlook, and words of encouragement never fail to uplift. Thank you for being you. In today's world, your voice is more important than ever.
I like the tradition you have with filling the Christmas stockings, Ma! I haven't filled a stocking in a few years, but might do that this year (other than the kids, I do one for them every year). Always good to look for bargains too for them! Its good you live in a community where there are activities you can choose to participate in if you want to. Good way to get to know the neighbors and keep an eye out for each other.

My DIL is still disappointed our neighbors haven't been over to introduce themselves … but their (former) community had a whole different feel; lots of kids. I smile when she remembered a young Sarah and Caitlin being the unofficial neighborhood greeters when a new family moved in. In response? Sarah: Mom, we were just nosy. (LOL!)
I LOVE stocking stuffers. Such whimsey!
A good neighbor is a blessing. Glad you live in such a nice quiet area.
Love your idea of getting those stocking stuffers early, smart gal!
