ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Lucky Penny Day which encourages us to look on the ground for pennies. Perhaps a Lucky Penny will be lucky for you today.
Taken at face value a penny doesn’t buy much, if anything. It used to. During your parents and grandparents day, a penny bought a lot of things. Most notably, Penny Candy got its name because a piece of candy cost a penny. Inflation year after year ended the penny’s value.
The penny still serves a very useful purpose as some of them are lucky pennies. Lucky pennies are found on the ground. Not all the pennies you find will be lucky. But it will take only one lucky penny used to scratch off the mega winner on a scratch off ticket.
Superstition has it that you should only pick up a penny that is lying face up.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
See a penny, pick it up
All day long you’ll have good luck

Well, whether you believe it or not that you’ll be lucky all day, you had to be lucky to find that little penny on the ground anyway. And lots of pennies add up to dollars. I’ve collected a lot of pennies around here and it’s about time I turned them in to see how much I’ve saved. I have a coffee can full of them and more.
Some even consider these pennies to be pennies from heaven. A sign from deceased loved ones letting you know that they are there.
And then there is of course, the reason that I pick up a penny. In the front of every one of them are the words In God We Trust. When ever I find a coin and see that inscription it seems that God has dropped a message right in from of me telling me to trust Him. And those pennies always seem to come my way just when I need it most.
The heavy rain yesterday flooded the yard and several streets in our area. But it’s to be a dry and sunny day today. It’s not dried out enough to do yard work so I’m going to venture out and do a little shopping. Not much to get at all but I do need the basics. Milk, bananas, bread and my donuts. My sister was telling me about some frozen biscuits that taste like homemade so I’m going to be looking for those too.
I’d really like to get a few more flowers, but I’m going to wait till after Memorial Day weekend, hopefully there will be some good sales to be found then. We’ll see…
I saw the Americana sign that is pictured above when we went out to the Arboretum a couple of weeks ago and that has inspired me to do a little painting. I have two slates that would make perfect surfaces to paint on and have been added to my list of things to do.
On the bright side we’re to have a few mostly sunny days in a row…almost unheard of these days !
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
All ready for a beach day !

I'll have to look out for pennies now and pick them up. Usually I've left them in the past for young ones that might stumble upon them, but I like your thought about "In God we trust" and thinking that is a way he is watching over us. Pennies do add up too!
betty
If they lay 'tails up', I used to leave pennies alone. Then, like you wrote, someone suggested it matters not because "In God We Trust." I'm encouraged that more and more people are coming on board, believing pennies have been tossed from our loved ones in Heaven.
I missed your post this morning and went back to find it this afternoon. My stepson collects pennies. He has some big ones. I had no idea that long long ago the pennies were much larger than they are now. We keep pennies and small change, too. What a lovely reminder you said about In God we trust.
I’ve heard about biscuits that taste like homemade too. Ruth Ann says they are in the freezer case. I never remember to look for them when I’m at the store, though!
Oh, I always pick up pennies, face up or face down!
I hope we always have our currency that says "In God We Trust".
I have always loved that the American penny has "In God We Trust" stamped on it!! Loved all your thoughts on pennies Pam! Can you believe that Canada has now done away with the penny? Apparently it costs more to produce them than they are worth! Prices are just rounded up or down accordingly. I think its a shame! Over here they have tuppences, which are two penny coins, and they are about the size of a quarter, but in copper of course! xoxo
