ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Happy Birthday to you♥
Today is also National Maritime Day in the U.S. This day reflects gratitude for the maritime industry and the benefits it brings to the country. It also recognizes ships and seafarers who have held a special place in our nations history.
Water has played a critical role in the United States from its beginnings. Not only did colonists make it over to the continent by water, but the resulting ports also helped to make trade and commerce more efficient and profitable. The economic value of the maritime industry is crucial.
During World War II more than 250,000 members of the American Merchant Marines served their country . Many gave their lives and more than 800 ships were sunk or damaged.
In 2006 the Maritime Administration joined forces with the American Association of Port Authorities, the US Army Corps of Enginers, Waterways Council Inc. the US Coast Guard, Nation Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration and other entities involved in the maritime industry to raise awareness of National Maritime Day and the maritime industry as a whole.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I am not afraid of storms, for I’m learning to sail my ship.
Louisa May Alcott
DS#4's birthday is another of my long distance celebrations, but he is very missed and loved and as usual a card was sent out in the mail to wish him the very happiest of birthdays.
I was blessed to have been able to visit him and DS#2 and their families a year ago last Thanksgiving, but that is far too long in my opinion. Thankfully they do keep in contact through the internet and send lots of pictures my way.
Yesterday the maintenance men for our community came to fix a crack in the wall here that had formed in the bitter cold of January. Because my home sits on a concrete pad it tends to shift with the weather. Hopefully the repairs will last through the next winter.
Because I now rent the repairs were free and that’s the reason I choose to rent and not buy a house when I sold my last one. Maintaining and repairing a home is expensive and they do it all.
Today continues to be a busy one for me as I have lots to finish up before the weekend comes. We have a graduation to go to with a party afterward. There is never a dull moment here it seems.
It’s to be another rainy day but most of what I need to do is inside anyway. They say we do have some sunny days coming our way though and hopefully this time all the puddles in the yard will dry up. I’ve had standing water in the yard for over a week now. We’ll see…
Working without a plan is sailing without a compass.

I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
It is not the ship so much as the skillful sailing that assures the prosperous voyage.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5999. for DS#4, it’s his birthday today!
6000. for the internet that keeps me in touch with family
6001. for rainy days to get the housework done
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
A ship in port is safe, but that is not ships are for. Sail out to sea and do new things.
Grace Hopper
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Happy Birthday!! 🎈🎂🎈
Happy Birthday to DDS#4! Its weird here in Phoenix, people purposefully flood their yards or parks with standing water for a few days. I guess it sinks into the ground better for irrigation purposes? Of course I realize your standing water is from the rain you got, something we desperately need more of here. It is good to rent over buying indeed, less hassles when it comes to repairing things.

Happy Birthday blessings to your DS#4!
Interesting tidbits about the maritime industry. 250,000 merchant marines ...wow!
For the very reasons you cite, I initially wanted to rent ... but the prices here are astronomical; upwards of $1,200/mo. for a 2 BR apartment! Sounds like you're in a good spot, and so fortunate yesterday's repair didn't fall on your shoulders!
