The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is also National Train Day which was started by Amtrak in 2008 as a method to spread information about the advantages of railway travel and it’s rich history in the U.S.
On May 9, 1869 the tracks of the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroad companies met up at Promontory Summit, Utah. A golden spike was driven into the final connection of the two tracks. The first Continental rail line was 1,776 miles long. Towns big and small would soon spring up along the route.
Once completed, train service connected from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, making the world a whole lot smaller. It would also change the face of America.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Train of Life
Some folks ride the train of life
Looking out the rear,
Watching miles of life roll by,
And marking every year.
They sit in sad remembrance,
Of wasted days gone by,
And curse their life for what it was,
And hang their head and cry.
But I don't concern myself with that,
I took a different vent,
I look forward to what life holds,
And not what has been spent.
So strap me to the engine,
As securely as I can be,
I want to be out on the front,
To see what I can see.
I want to feel the winds of change,
Blowing in my face,
I want to see what life unfolds,
As I move from place to place.
I want to see what's coming up,
Not looking at the past,
Life's too short for yesterdays,
It moves along too fast.
So if the ride gets bumpy,
While you are looking back,
Go up front, and you may find,
Your life has jumped the track.
It's all right to remember,
That's part of history,
But up front's where it's happening,
There's so much mystery.
The enjoyment of living,
Is not where we have been,
It's looking ever forward,
To another year and ten.
It's searching all the byways,
Never should you refrain,
For if you want to live your life,
You gotta drive the train.

This is my favorite SIL’s birthday and even though I probably won’t see him today, he does live close by and I do get to see him often. A card was sent out in the mail with my birthday wishes for a Happy day. I only have one daughter and he is her husband and my only SIL. He’s a welcome and much loved addition to our family.
Truth be told, I’ve never been on a train except for the small versions they have at amusement parks. I do have a train track near by where I live and can watch trains go by from the living room window and often wonder just where they're going.
Hard to believe the weekend is here once more. This week was a busy one for me with the addition of yard work to do. It’s not a big yard at all and that’s a good thing as I can still do what it takes to care for it.
It was great to be outside in the sunshine, but they say we have rain coming our way today. By next week, I’m sure it will be time to mow again.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5969. for DSIL, it’s his birthday today
5970. for trains, a big part of our nation’s history
5971. for weekends, which some say are the best part of the week
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer.

A bit of love from someone dear…

Happy birthday to your son in law, Ma! How fun with it being train day today. I did like that poem about riding on the engine of life, good advice on how to live one's life since it does seem to go by so fast! I've been on a train several times when I was younger from Pennsylvania to Southern California. Took about 3 days to do the trip.
betty
Love the train poem and quotes! I love trains. I’ve ridden on them when I was young and the last time I traveled on one was when I went to Kansas City from Dallas when I was 17. We ride the Express train to and from Fort Worth and Dallas for entertainment. This year we are going on a cruise. Next year we are going up to the east coast on a train trip. I have some researching to do!
I always enjoy seeing pics of your lovely family!
HAPPY Birthday blessings to your DSIL!
That's a neat poem, likening our time on earth to a train ride. It's been many years since my mother and I'd travel from Lamy (New Mexico) to Sioux Falls each summer to visit her folks. Still, I'll never forget the enchantment of visiting the dining car with its starched white linen tablecloths and silver sugar/creamer. Then, if I was good, mother would give me a quarter to visit the smoking lounge car and buy comic books. Part of me wants to travel via rail again, but I'm afraid it would pale in comparison to my memories.
Happy Birthday to your SIL Pam. Hope he had a lovely day. I have travelled quite a bit on trains. I love them and much prefer them to planes. When I was a very young girl a train track went right by the back of our house at the end of the garden. We would hang on the fence and wave to the engineer. He always waved back and it was very exciting. A friend of ours is a train driver/engineer. It is a job with a lot of responsibility! Thanks for the poem God bless you and a very Happy Mother's Day! xoxo
Happy Birthday 🎂
I have yard work to do too 😃
