Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Winnie the Pooh Day which is an opportunity to enjoy your favorite bear and all of his friends. This day was created to celebrate the birth of A.A .Milne in 1882. He was an author of children's story books, and created Winnie the Pooh and his friends. Winnie's pals include Christopher Robin, Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet, and Roo.
Have some fun today. Celebrate Winnie the Pooh Day by reading some storybooks about the adventures of Winnie and his friends.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Some people care too much. I think it's called love.
A.A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh
One thing about Winnie the Pooh is that his stories remind us just how important our friends are. Here at my house I have friends that are like family and family that are my friends too.
I couldn't get along with out any of them very well that’s for sure. So today I’m telling you all just how much it means to me that you are my friend!
There’s no doubt that a friend adds to the fullness of life. Authenticity, honesty, and trust are qualities we expect to find in a friend. Friendship is a partnership. Two people come together on equal terms. They give their all. Friendship demands more than love. Friendship expects and endures the good, the bad, and the ugly. A best friend is someone who brings out the best in you.
Sad to say today is yet another funeral. It’s for my SIL’s father. I’ll not be saying goodbye though, but will say until we meet again. He was a friend to all and will be remembered fondly.
Don't be dismayed at good byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends.
Richard Bach
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is National Peking Duck Day
Peking duck is a famous duck dish from Beijing that has been prepared since the imperial era, and is now considered a national dish of China.
The dish is prized for the thin, crisp skin, with authentic versions of the dish serving mostly the skin and little meat, sliced in front of the diners by the cook. The meat is eaten with pancakes, scallion, and hoisin sauce or sweet bean sauce.
As we gear up for the Chinese New Year which is celebrated on January 28th, it might be time to have this fried rice recipe on hand. I’ll be making this using chicken instead of duck
CHICKEN FRIED RICE
3 eggs
Leftover meat, diced 2 fried chicken breasts or 2 pork chops
2 to 3 c. rice
3 green onions, chopped
1/2 c. broccoli
1/4 c. sliced carrots, cooked until tender
Soy sauce
Oil
Put 1 tablespoon oil in hot wok or frying pan and scramble eggs. Put aside. Put 1 to 2 tablespoons oil in wok and fry rice until rice is soft, 10 minutes. Stir frequently. Add soy sauce until rice is brown. Taste so you don't get too much soy sauce. Add eggs, meat, onions, and other vegetables. Cook until warm through, stirring frequently.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
It's so much more friendly with two.
A.A. Milne
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4582. for DSIL’s dad, he was a friend to all
4583. for my friends, I love you all
4584. for rice, a staple always on the shelf and often on the menu
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart for so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams, we can be together all the time.
A.A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

Oh, Ma, so sorry to hear about another funeral. But so true to not say goodbye but to say see you soon. Sadly as we age, it becomes more common for funerals than not.
Everyone loves Winnie the Pooh. He and Piglet's friendship is indeed very special; we should all have friends like them!
betty
I love the quote. I think that sometimes I care too much! Sorry about another funeral! Hope your week ends on a high note!
Oh, I hope after the funeral, your SIL has a measure of peace about his father's passing. This is 3, right? Ya, I believe in that olden superstition about things happening in 3's.
Another blog friend shared a Winnie-the-Pooh link to see which character we most resembled. I never read the book, but Paula and I each had identical results ... we're Piglet. Now I've got to read the book. Good friends are the BEST!!!
