Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
January 22nd was Celebration Of Life Day which is when we take a step back and truly appreciate our children and grandchildren. Granted, some may do this on an everyday basis, but it’s an opportunity to look at our young ones’ lives from a different angle, think about what it is that makes them truly special.
It can be easy to forget that our children and grandchildren are people in their own right. We’ve helped them to discover themselves over the years, but heir life choices are ultimately down to them.
So be the one who’s there to offer congratulations, or encouragement to pick themselves up when they fall. And above all else, show that you love them.
Today, January 23rd is Hand Writing Day. The hand written letter, note or document is fast becoming a thing of the past, the art of elegant or even legible handwriting may well be under threat. Handwriting Day encourages you put pen to paper, and to practice your handwriting.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Families are the compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter.
Brad Henry
Since Sunday was quite busy, I’m combining two days of holidays in one today. I do appreciate and love my children and grandchildren. They are a very special people in their own right. I’m thankful for each and every one of them.
Life is a gift. I’ve been very blessed with 7 children and they have given me 22 wonderful grandchildren too. Life without them wouldn’t be half so enjoyable. They are often my best motivation to do what ever I do. Thankfully they’ve given me the opportunity to have more to enjoy in life and make every day something new and exciting.
My letters to my family are mostly in the form of this email, but one of my grandsons wrote me a letter and I’m going to be writing him back and putting the the letter in the mail. His dad said it would be a great way to improve his handwriting. It’ll help me too as I don’t hand write much at all these days, but use the keyboard instead.
It’s hard to believe we experienced temps right around 60 this past weekend. However, the cold of winter will be returning this week. The pictures today are from Thanksgiving when I was able to spend time with most of my family. Not all the grandchildren were present, but all of my children were part of my Thanksgiving celebration.
I hope you all had a RELAXING Sunday and that you have a great start to this new week. Happy Monday!!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
January 22nd was National Blonde Brownie Day which is a special day that is set aside to bake and eat blonde brownies.
Traditional brownies are a dark brown but to make blonde brownies, light brown sugar is used in the recipe in place of dark brown chocolate.

2 eggs
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1, 12 oz, pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. nuts
Grease 9 by 13 inch pan. Combine 1/2 cake mix with water, butter, eggs and sugar. Mix well. Add remaining cake mix and mix well. Add chocolate chips and nuts. Spread in pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 375 degrees.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The most extraordinary thing in the world is an ordinary man and an ordinary woman and their ordinary children.
G. K. Chesterton
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4594. for my children and grandchildren
4595. for brownies, anyway you fix them
4596. for the new week ahead.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible--the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.
Virginia Satir
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

What fun photos Pam, especially that last one! How lovely! I love all of my grandchildren, although there is one still I have yet to meet in person. That is the problem living so far away, but I do my best. There is nothing so sweet as getting a letter from a friend in the post. It is such a lift when it happens! I love getting e-mails also, but a hands on letter is so special. Thanks so much for all that you share Pam! You are a real ray of sunshine in a world that is becoming increasingly dark! xoxo
Great family pictures, Ma! That is neat to have a pen pal with one of your grandsons! We are having lots of rain here; being our visit year in Phoenix, we didn't know what to expect for the winter. I was thinking more warmer weather (we're in the 60s, I shouldn't complain) and more sun but it seems like quite a few storms have made their way here too.

Wonderful family photos, Ma! Your baby girl is growing so quickly!
My own handwriting has gradually become sloppier; I need to step up my game. Doesn't seem that long ago, we were graded on our penmanship!
Sadly, we are losing handwriting. Our school here doesn't even teach cursive anymore. I love my handwriting and I like to practice it on occasion!
