Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Bubble Bath Day. Bubble baths are so much fun. It would be great if everyday could be Bubble Bath Day. Today is a fun day to relax an enjoy the warm and soothing pleasures of a bubble bath. Best of all, it can be enjoyed by kids and adults. For kids, it's playtime. For adults, it's soothing pleasure.
Bubble Bath Day reminds us to take time out of our day to treat ourselves to a little special TLC.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There must be quite a few things a hot bath won't cure, but I don't know many of them.
Sylvia Plath
For me there is nothing quite like a soothing soak in a bubble bath to ease tired and achy muscles. And I’ve had cause to have plenty of those these days. So this is one holiday I’ll be celebrating for sure.
Once again the week flew by and here it is Sunday already. It’s my day to relax and refresh and get ready for another new week to come. So as usual I’ll be off to church a little later on this morning.
I had news yesterday, that an aunt on my mom’s side of the family has passed away so please join me in prayers of comfort for the family. I spent a lot of time with this aunt when I was young and growing up but hadn’t been able to see her in quite a few years. She was dearly loved and will be missed very much.
After tomorrow they say our temps will be rising above the freezing mark once more and we’ll warm up a little once again this coming week. We seem to be in some sort of weather pattern. We’ll freeze for a few days and then we’ll thaw out again.
Warmer means temps in the 40’s and upper 30’s for the most part, so it’s not like we are having balmy breezes here. Ha ! But it’s certainly better than being in the single digits!
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National English Toffee Day!
English toffee is a buttery confection topped with almonds. It’s made by caramelizing sugar with butter and can be both hardened or chewy. The Heath bar is a type of candy bar that is made with an English toffee core.
I found this easy toffee recipe in case you might want to make some
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans or almonds
Heat sugar, butter and water to boiling in heavy 2 quart saucepan, stirring constantly; reduce heat to medium. Cook about 13 minutes, stirring constantly, to 300 degrees on candy thermometer or until small amount of mixture dropped into cup of very cold water separates into hard, brittle threads. Watch carefully so mixture does not burn.
Immediately pour toffee onto ungreased large cookie sheet. If necessary, quickly spread mixture to 1/4 inch thickness. Sprinkle with chocolate chips; let stand about 1 minute or until chips are completely softened. Spread softened chocolate evenly over toffee. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
Let stand at room temperature about 1 hour, or refrigerate if desired, until firm. Break into bite size pieces. Store in airtight container.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I'm so glad my window looks east into the sunrising.... It's so splendid to see the morning coming up over those long hills and glowing through those sharp fir tops. It's new every morning, and I feel as if I washed my very soul in that bath of earliest sunshine.
L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4552. for warm baths always soothing
4553. for bubbles, very amusing
4554. for toffee, chocolate and nuts a great combination
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Life is mostly froth and bubble,
Two things stand like stone,
Kindness in another's trouble,
Courage in your own.
Adam Lindsay Gordon
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

Wow. I can't recall the last time I enjoyed a bubble bath! Probably I never mastered the knack of drinking wine, reading and soaking at the same time. Well, that and giving myself permission to relax.
So sorry to learn of the loss of another loved one. As blog friend Carol has said, "May her memory be a blessing."
It too has been years since I have taken a bubble bath. I do remember the kids loving their bubble baths! So sorry to hear about your aunt's passing. Will keep the family in prayer. Glad to hear it could be warming up a bit for you all there!
